Blackout Grid Down Trauma First Response

National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT)
Trauma First Response for Emergency Preparedness Planners

Course Description:
This Trauma First Response course is a one-day, continuing education course that teaches the principles of Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) and Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) to non-EMS practitioners/civilians, including first-responders, police officers, firefighters, rescue personnel and safety officers. It helps them prepare to care for multi-system trauma patients while serving as part of a transport team or attempting to mitigate loss in a grid-down environment.

Intended Audience:
This course is intended for anyone who has had previous training in First Aid and CPR who have not had EMT or advanced prehospital training. The lectures and practical stations are designed for the type of care that first responders and civilians can render while awaiting patient transport or surviving a disaster when a blackout occurs.

Training blocks and practical training stations include:

* CPR Mask Demo and Usage

* Occlusive Dressing Application Training (for Sucking Chest Wounds)

* Chest Decompression using Needle and Catheter Training (for the alleviation of a tension pneumothorax {collapsed lung} due to a penetration wound to the upper chest.)

* Nasopharyngeal & Supraglottic Intubation (Airway Maintenance) Training

* Combat Gauze and Hemostatic Agent Training (for Gunshot Wounds)

* Intraosseous (IO) FAST Fluid/Drug Administration Training (for Explosive Blast and Burn Victims)

* C-A-T Tourniquet Application Training (for Gunshot Wounds and Amputations)

* Multiple Scenarios with Real-life Interaction

* Much, Much More!

Successful completion will earn a NATIONALLY-RECOGNIZED
