We are a mixed group of English and Spanish speakers interested in improving our conversational skills. Whether you are a near beginner or an advanced student of Spanish or a native Spanish speaker who wants to practice your English and/or help others learn your beautiful language, this is the group to join. We are very informal and relaxed and always welcome new members!

The purpose of the group is to give persons whose primary language is Spanish or English an opportunity to practice and develop conversational Spanish or English in a social context. This group will benefit anyone who needs to develop skill in Spanish or English conversation for personal, employment, or school related needs. It's a social group and not a class - just friends helping friends.

We normally meet several times per week: we rotate between various downtown Sarasota cafés/restaurants for a very informal Friday Happy Hour, and then we meet each Saturday afternoon for slightly more structured conversation practice at the Coffee Loft in northern Sarasota. We also have "paid", limited attendance, tutoring sessions ($5 - $10 to the Tutor and the location venue). You are welcome and encouraged to find Study Buddies and meet on your own time.

We also organize other activities related to Hispanic cultures, ranging from salsa dance classes and Spanish-language movies to all types of cultural events. There may even be some travel to Spanish-speaking countries on the horizon so stay tuned!

We are hoping to find one or more co-organizers or assistant organizers who are native Spanish speakers, so please contact one of the organizers (Curt, Linda or Susan) if this might interest you. And, of course, if you are a native Spanish speaker who is willing to help us learn, well, we really need you to join.

We are looking forward to meeting you!
