Join us for a friendly Saturday morning run in Hyde Park followed by a social brunch at Whole Foods Market located on High Street Kensington, (your own tab). We're a non- competitive group of men and women, catering for both beginners to experienced runners of all endurance levels. Our runs are up to 60 minutes in duration so we can end together and go to brunch in a group. There is no obligation to complete the full 60 minutes. Also there’s a choice of routes depending on your speed and ability. For example you may wish to run or run/walk across Kensington Gardens and/or Hyde Park while for advanced runners there is the further option of Green Park and St James Park. We won't leave for brunch until the last person gets back.
During Autumn and Winter our group meets twice a month. During Spring and Summer runs will increase to weekly when we can look forward to picnic brunches. We run because we enjoy it and have fun! This isn't a professional club and there is no formal training schedule.
What is Whole Foods Market?
The UK’s largest natural/organic restaurant & grocery store where we can enjoy a delicious feast of foods to satisfy varied dietary requirements and budgets.
What to wear?
As a rule of thumb dress in layers as we approach the colder weather it can be chilly to start off but you’ll soon warm up! For beginner runners I recommend checking out a website like Runners World or similar for advice on general clothing and runners shoes. On the basis that you have a decent pair of trainers I suggest there is initially no need to buy expensive running gear. Do bring a bottle of water to keep hydrated.
Where did the idea for the group come from?
When living abroad I was a member of a running club. On Saturday our run always ended in a hosted brunch at a member’s home. Brunches were great fun and a relaxed way of meeting new friends. Chatting isn't so easy when out of breath! Not to mention the pleasure of indulging in good food!
*Disclaimer* - Please know your fitness level and take care of your health when joining a run as we cannot be held responsible for any injuries that might occur. Take sensible precautions like keeping hydrated. Stop running if you feel short of breath, faint or dizzy. If returning after an injury or illness it’s recommended you check your fitness to run with your doctor before coming along. Our goal is for everyone to enjoy a fun, healthy experience.
The goal of the group, (both men and women) is to share our enthusiasm for running outdoors and an enjoyment for good food. We go for a run (encouraging and non competitive) followed by a social brunch in a casual natural/organic restaurant within a short walking distance of the park. Scheduled run time is 60 minutes so we can meet and go to brunch together. Read more
