The Adventurers wake up to a warm meal in the Silver Unicorn but face a cold rainy day. After meeting with Captain Faringray, they head off to Vanamere Tower with their dwarven guide, Sorik Orvash. Following the Nentir River to the south they eventually reach the dreary sight of the Witchlight Fens. They now head west to their ultimate destination.
The steady rain fall has made conditions right for an ambush. The Party quickly deal with the Honey Trap set by some Blackmarsh Lizardfolk. Sadly, the two bodies had only a combined 6 cp of loot. The real bounty escaped with the leader, who lives to fight another day.
Sorik finally leads the group to the mist covered Vanamere Tower. That is if you consider a broken ring of rock and mortar to be a tower. The party's attempt of surprise is ruined when their pad foot steps on a brittle skull. Several Yellowskull that are here to protect the entrance are seen guarding a captured dwarf stonemason. They attack the intruders but their crossbow bolts sail fruitlessly into the heavy fog that envelopes the area. The Dwarven stoneworker escapes from the Yellowskull, but surprisingly turns on Grimsdale.
The intense battle sees the heroes whittling down the ranks of yellowskulls and the doppelganger when the battle is joined by the undead Fallcrest Guards. In the end, 100 gp and a gem (250 gp) are collected along with the personal effects of the Fallcrest Guards which are promised to Faringray.
Fortunately, the battle and clap of thunder did not alert the denizens within the tower but did draw the attention of Vanamere's spirit.
Experience earned for each party member, 1067 xp Given the cover of the heavy rain and the rope ladder raised, the party is able to get a needed but fitful sleep in before continuing their assault on the Yellowskulls and their undead companions.
