This session will be an introduction to the Actor model of concurrency (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actor_model) and how you can use it in Scala with Akka (http://akka.io) to build reactive, concurrent and distributed applications.
Akka is a toolkit for writing distributed systems, and it is part of the Typesafe platform (http://typesafe.com). It is Open Source, written in Scala but also offers a Java API and has an awesome documentation.
Like the session before, there will some slides and some live coding.
I hope to see you there.
PS 1: Akka and Actors will be covered in more details in this incoming Coursera course: https://www.coursera.org/course/reactive which starts on the 4th of November.
PS 2: Secure parking is available at Arbour Square, corner Juta and Melle Street.
