It's been a long time since the last talk at the Scala Meetup, so I'm happy to announce that Süddeutsche Zeitung will be hosting a meetup! There will be two talks:
Concurrency with Akka Actors – an Introduction
This talk gives an overview about actor programming with Akka and Scala. It covers how to use Actors with Akka, fault tolerance, supervision and using futures with actors. The talk is intended as an introduction to Akka.
Scalaz: A View From The Ivory Tower
In this talk, we will explore some concepts of the (in)famous scalaz library: Data validation, robust concurrency, and updating of nested immutable data structures. Prepare for few slides, many demos!
Frank will give a lightning talk about the scalaz-stream, a compositional, streaming I/O library for Scala.
Talks will be in English.
SZ will sponsor food and drinks, so please RSVP! Also, we're looking for some lightning talks: If you're interested in speaking for 5 minutes about a library, your experience with Scala or something similar, please let us know.
