Now that the weather is getting nicer, I figured it's time to start getting out and about. Though this weekend isn't going to be exceptionally warm (going to be mid-high 50's - so still jacket weather), it is totally warm enough to take a nice walk around, and enjoy the sun. With that in mind, let's head on over to
I actually have never been, and have always wanted to ride the tram over (yep, you ride an aerial tram over), and see one of the best views of Manhattan available. I'm sure many are not too familiar with what Roosevelt Island has to offer, which gives us even more of a reason to check it out. I figure we can take the tram over, walk around the serene island and check out some of the historical sites (Roosevelt Island has been home to small pox hospitals and prisons at different points in it's history). Also, last year they opened the new FDR Four Freedoms Park, which is really nice, and has amazing views of the city. We can grab a bite to eat at the Riverwalk Cafe, or some drinks at Pier NYC. The island is flat, and easy to walk, so you can expect a relaxing day, leisurely walking the grounds of this lil' oasis outside of the city.
We will meet at 2pm at the tram in Manhattan (59th st and 2nd Ave.). The tram is just one swipe of your metro card, and there is a bus that goes around the island that is 25 cents. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes though, as we will be doing plenty of walking.
So if you are looking for a relaxing day exploring a nice lil' island with a great group of women, then I look forward to seeing you this weekend!
