Warm weather is here, which means evening walks are the cool thing to do. Join us for a lovely evening on one of NYC's most beautiful parks. We will be
Stargazing on the Highline
Yep, I said stargazing. As in looking in great big telescopes looking at stars and planets. Awesome right! Here is how the night will go.
We will meet at the Highline's 30th St. Entrance (between 10th and 11th Ave.) at 6:45pm. The Highline is a public park built on an historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. It has art, nature, relaxation, water fixtures, and beauty all rolled into one. It truly is a unique park, and is a definite must see in NYC. We will walk the length of the Highline checking out the sites, then when we hit around 15th St, we will
take the walkway over to Chelsea Market and check out all the lovely little shops and eateries. Also, around 15th Street, they have food vendors, and the outdoor Terroir Wine Bar on the Highline where we can grab a bite or glass of wine at.
Once we have nibbled and sipped, we will head further down the Highline (between 13th and 14th), where at dusk (sunset is 8:30pm) they will have telescopes set up to check out stars/planets that are visible that evening. From here, you'll have beautiful views of the Statue of Liberty, and the Hudson River. Once we have checked out the wondrous sites of our solar system, we'll continue on down the Highline till we hit the end. At this point, we'll head to the Standard Beirgarten and grab a drink, maybe a pretzel, and mix and mingle some more.
This is going to be an amazing night out, so I hope you all will join me!!
If the weather does not cooperate, the stargazing will be re-scheduled.
