Tues 7/27 DL Chicago to host book party for DL co-founder Justin Krebs. Justin's book "528 Ways to Live, Work, and Play Like a Liberal" was recently released and he'll be at Sheffield's for the DL Chicago chapter meeting. http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=[masked]&ref=ts
Open mike night: I'm exploring the concept of an evening of short candidate speeches, Bughouse-Square-style speeches, standup, storytelling, poetry - if you would be interested in performing or helping to organize or stage an event like this please email [address removed]. Especially if you have experience staging performance-style events I need to hear from you!
November's 4th Thursday is Thanksgiving, so we're going to switch to Friday and observe Buy Nothing Day with a potluck. If you would like to host this event or know of a church or other suitable location please let me know.
December's 2nd Thursday will be pizza night at Lou Malnati's. (Thanks to Rose for the suggestion!) Lou's construction is supposed to be done before the holidays so we'll check out the new Lou.
**Other things to do**
Note the expanding event calendar at http://www.meetup.com/Schaumburg-Drinking-Liberally/calendar/. Some of us just like getting together for a drink now and then, but some members have said they'd like to "do something" to be more involved. Starting this month the calendar over at Meetup will add notes about other DL chapter events and political activities or meetings in the area. This Drinking Liberally list remains our primary announcement list, but the other calendar gives us more flexibility to keep all of you informed about liberal and progressive activities in the NW suburbs.
While you're there checking out other events you should see a "Post an idea" link. If you know of an event, or you want to share an idea for something the DL Schaumburg chapter should do, please "post an idea." If we have a member who will serve as event host we can make it an official chapter gathering - otherwise if it's just information it'll stay a note.
