I started being an avid reader of SF/fantasy books when I was 11 and read THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA. I recently finished 3 of the "Ender's Game" series at my 28-yr. old son's urging. I'm interested in both SF classics or new stuff.
I have found SF/fantasy lit over the years to be engaging,thought-provoking,and even spiritual.I'd like to read some new stuff in the field & re-read old classics, such as Asimov's Foundation series. It would be great to discuss ideas in the genre.
Childhood's End, Arthur Clarke. Favorite authors: Blish, Clarke, Sturgeon, Bradbury, Heinlein, Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Card.
Once per 1-2 months, since Hartford is a drive for me.
I am a retired high-school teacher, now working as a personal-growth facilitator. I am a grandmother of two darling little girls, I play Cajun accordion in a band, I'm into genealogy (family) and I love to quilt, read, and camp.
There was a group of intelligent and thoughtful people at the meeting. I did suggest that we do names at the beginning, since I knew no-one there.
We're actually ditching the poll for this time around- last ngiht we let our guest author choose our next book title. You should see the announcement for the next meetup as soon as I put it up. It will be on October 18th. Next time I put up a poll, it will show in the home feed.
