What's your favorite sci fi genre? (space opera, hard sf, cyberpunk, etc.)

I prefer a more mature, literary type of fiction. Good prose is absolutely essential - I can't read bad writing no matter how fascinating the plot and settings may be. I like mystery and discovery in my books.

Have any favorite sci fi authors or scriptwriters?

Lois Bujold, Ian Banks, James Stoddard, Thomas Ligotti, Darrell Schwietzer, James Blaylock, Tim Powers, Terry Prattchet, Neil Gaiman. In no particular order

What are your favorite sci fi movies and/or TV shows?

I don't really like any TV SF or movies. It's really pretty much a totally different thing from written SF. I haven't had a working television in years and I don't miss it.

Star Trek or Star Wars?

I like the original Star Trek for its 1960's philosophy and attitudes, not for its SF content, which is really pretty awful. Star Wars is complete crap and it's main purpose is selling toys to children.

I live in south Jersey, and I am the Secretary of the Philadelphia Science Fiction Society. This appears to be hereditary, as my mother, father and grandfather were also all board members of the PSFS.
