Townhall: Paul Tough: How Children Succeed

As another school year begins, Paul Tough makes a persuasive argument for how character, not IQ, matters most for children. Drawing on groundbreaking research in neuroscience, economics, and psychology, Tough advocates for a new way of thinking about how best to steer an individual child—or a whole generation of children—toward a successful future. New York Times and “This American Life” reporter Tough is the author of the highly-praised Whatever it Takes (about Harlem educator Geoffrey Canada) and the new How Children Succeed. Presented as part of Seattle Science Lectures, with Pacific Science Center and University Book Store. Series sponsored by Microsoft. Series media sponsorship provided by KPLU and Parent Map.

Advance tickets are $5 at townhallseattle.org or 888/[masked] and at the door beginning at 6:30 pm. Downstairs at Town Hall; enter on Seneca Street.

Hi Jon, Where is everyone meeting for the lecture tonight at Town Hall? What time? Are there any activities planned before or after the lecture? I didn't get the email with details if one was sent... Thanks! Sophia

We usually gather in the back of the room for discussion following the question and answer period, and sometimes head over to Primos across the street if we want to continue. Primos is a restaurant/bar. You can call/txt me at[masked]
