Very lively and interesting discussion. I'll be better prepared in the future.

Very nice discussion, very nice people. Thank you, Zoe, for letting me come in on the spur of the moment. In case you are also interested in Barbara McClintock, the scientist who discovered "jumping genes" --- initially in corn --- who should be a feminist and scientific hero, here's the Wikipedia link: Not to minimize the achievements of Lynn Margulis and Carl Sagan. Nor Dorothy Parker, who gave us the immortal line, "What fresh hell is this?" (On opening a door on a party.)

If you've ever thought it would be intriguing to participate in a salon (the Dorothy Parker kind, not the Paul Mitchell kind) with a scientific focal point, you should try this group. Smart, thoughtful, and engaging members with varied backgrounds make for interesting and wide-ranging discussions. Zoe has assembled a great group of thinkers, listeners, and talkers!

The conversations and the people I've met in this group remind me of the quote: "Is it not pleasant to learn with a constant perseverance and application? Is it not delightful to have friends coming from different quarters?"

Fun group to spend an hour and a half with. Conversations were exceptional.
