SeattleScienceRiot is a regular meetup group and occasional discussion series that brings together a blended virtual and in-person community dedicated to exploring how social media and the internet are changing the way we share--and do-- science. We are scientists, journalists, librarians, educators, gamers, tech types, artists, and students. We welcome anyone interested in engaging in science and the networked world!

You can find us on Twitter using #SciRiot, and you can find us in person at science events in the Seattle area. We are an open group, happy to share our experiences inside and outside academia, and specially happy to join conversations ranging from the technology that is changing our lives, to the latest discoveries about our universe.

Join us, join the conversation, meet some people. We are accessible, a little geeky, and a lot of fun. Follow us on Twitter for information about our events, join our meetup group, or join our Google group.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
