Motorcycle Sunday was great! Had a great time visiting with everyone-- 13 bikes was a great turn out. Glad everyone was happy with my rec for lunch in Geneva. Looking forward to next time.

Very cool day. We got there around 10:00 and left around 12:00. Missed the blessing dang it! But we made it to my brother's concert.
2 · May 5, 2014
We were there from about 11:40 till 1, sorry we missed you!

It was a good ride and the best part no rain so we got our blessings in more ways than one .thank god for another good day.

Good day and no rain!
What a fun day! NO RAIN
3 · May 4, 2014
Had a good time. No rain.
2 · May 4, 2014
I headed out and circled back... Too cold for me today! Have fun!

If it raining, I'm pretty sure I'm staying home guys.

Rain is unlikely, dress like it's scootoberfest.
Looks like a decent. but cool day. Dress warm, in layers, wear gloves, bring a wind breaking layer.
Meet at DD rain or shine. If the weather is unacceptable we will ride to the Golden Apple on Irving, near Milwaukee for breakfast.

This is absolutely a scooter friendly event. We went last year and everyone was extremely nice. Some of our scooterists have stepped up to motorcycles, but they still want to hang out with the "cool kids".

Pia is the coolest kid in town.
I'll be waiting at the Wheaton Gas Mart at the appointed time.
1 · April 29, 2014
I'm planning on meeting up in Wheaton too. I'll be on a red/white cruiser.
0 · April 29, 2014
I'll be on the Triumph, the Vespa isn't quite there yet. :(
Cruiser, Triumph?? Are you guys suggesting this won't be a scooter-friendly environment? Paul B pulled that once before on a charity ride, leaving his Lammie at home and riding his Moto instead.

No such suggestion is intended. I'd be on the Vespa, but if I get it running today, I am not about to ride that far out of town on a brand new piston and head.It was mostly an MC event, but they were extremely nice to us last year.
Just found out about this event, same day in Lockport. After the blessing, anyone interested in riding down to Lockport?
We will have to meet you guys there. We have a concert to attend at 3:00pm downtown so we will have to go and leave early. : (
Sorry heading out of town on Friday!
Hey folks, we are leaving promptly at 9:30 am, be there early for coffee and Cilvia's quiz.
There is plenty of space in the bank lot next door to the DD in case it gets too crowded.
We are going to be driving a very large group through a parking lot crowded with bikes and bikers. It is an excellent time to get reaquainted with the Rules of the Ride, especially the parking stuff: http://www.meetup.com/ScootJockeysChicago/messages/boards/thread/43792822

Cilvia will be in charge of the quiz.

I'm giving serious consideration to joining you all for Motorcycle Sunday. I am mostly recovered from my crash last year. I've been walking - sort of - since October. My bike got fixed last summer but has been sitting in the yard while my leg was healing. I'm thinking that starting the summer with a blessing isn't a bad idea given my recent history. Before I commit though, I think I need to ride around a bit to see if I can get over my terror of uninsured motorists and left turns. (I also need to give my wife, daughter, mother, doctors, and most of the people I work with a chance to form a Greek Chorus on the subject of the dangers of riding a scooter.)
I hope to see you then.

Could I suggest maybe short group rides or buddy rides while you get reacquainted. I'm saying don't ride alone.
0 · April 25, 2014
I'm still working thru some issues since my accident. I am looking to take an MSF course refresher. If you can get into the ones sponsored by NIU or Harper, it's $20.
The ride out to Aurora is pretty tame, Mannhiem is the scariest part, Butterfield is pretty pleasant. We hope you'll come, with confidence and be happy!

Ray, both good suggestions, and they're in the works. I've been planning an MSF refresher for some time - even before the crash. I didn't know about NIU, though. I'll look into it. I may get out this weekend with the training wheels on.
Hoping to meet you guys either out there or in Wheaton.

It was fun last year... Should be good this year.
0 · February 8, 2014
This should be interesting and fun.

I hope it doesn't snow
2 · December 25, 2013
Esh won't come if it rains, I think she is cool with snow.

What about an apocalypse?
0 · December 26, 2013
There will be no apocalypse on May 4. May 5? All bets are off.
While I am not much of the church type, this is one of my favorite things we did last year. Not only do you get your bike blessed, you get an interesting bag of goodies, live classic rock bands, tacos (and other food choices) and the chance to hang out with about 2,000 bikers from all over Northern Illinois.
We made lots of friends last year too. It seems HD riders think their wives would love a Buddy or a Blur, and of course the two strokes were a hit too.
It doesn't hurt that it is a gorgeous park and the ride out to the Fox River on Butterfield Rd. is quite nice.
Donna, where's your key?
Considering the bad luck you've had with your 3 bikes , I'm surprised you don't ask for a refund !
Imagine if I wasn't blessed?

As long as it's not raining
