The Scottsdale Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International. Comprised of over 500 choruses throughout the world, this organization is focused on promoting the barbershop style of music--a special blend of four-part a cappella music. This isn’t your father’s barbershop. The chorus sings both standard and contemporary music and adds innovative choreography to many of the songs.
Competition is part of the Sweet Adeline quest for excellence and allows a chorus to be judged on the components of the barbershop style. The Scottsdale Chorus is one of the highest ranked choruses in the Sweet Adelines organization.
As a competitive chorus, this group has a busy schedule with rehearsals, competitions, coaching, and performances. Membership does entail commitment to ‘being there’. Members find the challenging musical arrangements and choreography two of the things that make belonging to this group rewarding for those seeking a high-level singing experience. Shared experiences and camaraderie bring lifelong friendships as an added bonus.
If you have vocal music experience and are looking for a challenging, creative outlet, visit one of our Tuesday evening rehearsals to meet us and to learn more about membership and the audition process.
We rehearse every Tuesday, 7-10pm; visitors are always welcome!
