Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley Spring Tour

MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS NOW!!!

Day one - Friday, May 2nd - travel to Chinle, Az (310 miles) where we will spend all three nights. Lodging options for the three nights are the Sacred Canyon Lodge (formerly the Thunderbird Lodge) at $335.61, the Holiday Inn at $389.28 (+19.05% tax) and the Best Western at $276.44 (paid-up-front internet rate, but cancelable by April 25, 2014.) The Best Western had the best reviews on Trip Advisor, has a restaurant on the premises and a pool. Leslie and I have made our reservations here. CLICK HERE FOR FLYER
Day two - Saturday, May 3rd - take the tour into the Canyon, ride the North and South rims, and return to our lodging.
Day three - Sunday, May 4th - travel to Monument Valley (96 miles) - take the tour into the Valley. Return to Chinle for the night.
Day four - Monday, May 5th - return home from Chinle - 310 miles.
Notes:
1. Daytime temperatures should be in the 70’s.
 2. Many of us have made this ride on our motorcycles - the mileage going to, and returning from Chinle is somewhat long and the scenery not all that spectacular. Please feel free to take your 4 wheel vehicles instead of riding.

We are working on the tour packages into both Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley. The Canyon de Chelly Tours are about $85.00 per person for a 3-hour guide tour. In Monument Valley, there is a wide variety of tour opportunities available starting at about $70 for a 2.5 hour tour by Jeep. Bob Johnson is researching these tours and will have more definitive info in the future.

We will gather at the Chevron Station at I17 and the Carefree Highway, at 8AM on May 2nd, for the trip north. Please RSVP for this event so that we can keep everyone up to date should plans change.

Awesome! Juanita and I are looking forward to more meetups. Thanks to all for your work and dedication in making this a "fun, safe and knowledgeable" trip.

Both tours were incredible, I'm afraid I'm already starting to forget some of the things our wonderful guides shared.

Reminder that we depart the Chevron Station at 8:00am on Friday.

Plus, EXCITING NEWS! I just spoke with Garry at Navajo Spirit Tours and we're all set for 14-16 folks on Sunday's tour of Mystery Valley.

We have our OWN TOUR for our group and our tour will begin at 12:00PM. And, because we're touring Mystery Valley, we'll learn so much about Navajo culture and history! He promised to have one of his best tour guides assigned to our group.

Stay tuned for more information as this weekend gets closer.

For those of us who are signed up for the Touring Arizona Program, we will be able to add the Cameron Trading Post, Monument Valley, and Canyon de Chelly to the sites we've visited. Also, I’m planning to ride the 200 mile round trip to the Four Corners Monument on Saturday afternoon. It’s too close to pass up. On the ride home, Leslie and I are planning to visit the Hubbell Trading Post in Ganado and the Petrified Forest National Park. The Visitor's Center is just off of I40, east of Holbrook.

Great trip, but you selected the same weekend as the AZE Fund-Raiser in Sierra Vista. Chapter R has already booked this weekend for that fun ride and event.
