Prescott Bluegrass Festival

The Prescott Chamber of Commerce presents the Prescott Bluegrass Festival! The Prescott Bluegrass Festival is celebrating its 33rd year in 2014. It remains the only free bluegrass festival of its caliber in the western United States. The Prescott Chamber of Commerce coordinates the festival and strives to bring audiences a variety of bluegrass shows- traditional and contemporary; national, regional, and local groups; family and non-family bands – while maintaining the highest standards for the music.

The Location - Downtown Prescott
Prescott’s central downtown business district is built around an elm-shaded, traditional courthouse plaza. The historic plaza hosts activities such art shows, evening music concerts, antique fairs, and family oriented community events throughout the year. The Bluegrass Festival stage is located on Goodwin St. at the south side of the Courthouse Plaza. The Festival kicks off Saturday Morning at 10:30 am with Opening Ceremonies and the National Anthem. Bands will be on stage throughout the day, with a break from 6-7 PM, then continuing until 9 PM. The entire schedule can be viewed on the Festival Web site at http://www.prescottbluegrassfestival.com/

We are planning to stay over Saturday night, but you can also just come along for the day… There are many hotels, motels and inns in the area, but they are filling up quickly. We have made reservations for Saturday night at the Quality Inn http://www.qualityinn.com/hotel-prescott-arizona-AZ371. The AAA rate for two doubles is $108.10 + tax = $120.35. (Call the hotel directly to book this rate as it does not show up on their Web site.) You can save about $20 on this rate with advanced booking, but if you do this and then cancel, you will pay for the night anyway. The rate we booked into has a 24-hour cancellation. We plan to leave at 8 AM from the Four Sons Chevron, 3150 W. Carefree Highway, Phoenix, 85086. This is north and east of the intersection of Carefree Highway and I-17. We’ll return to the Valley sometime Sunday … Come along!
