Can you do 26.2?

Holiday Inn Express

The SCRABBLE Marathon is coming to Akron, Ohio on January 18-20, 2014!

Enjoy the excitement of a marathon without breaking a sweat*. Match wits with other SCRABBLE competitors for 26.2 rounds of tournament SCRABBLE at the NASPA-sanctioned SCRABBLE Marathon. Competitors will play 13 rounds on Saturday, and an additional 13 rounds on Sunday, plus an additional 0.2 (5 minute per side) game, that will not be rated or count for tournament standings, but will allow the competitors to complete the marathon, and earn a super cool finisher's medal, featuring a spinning SCRABBLE tile.

*"without breaking a sweat" is an advertising slogan, and not a guarantee. Players may experience perspiration arising from clumsy racks, insanely lucky opponents, faulty HVAC systems, or other reasons outside the organizer's control. Your results may vary.

Online Registration is Available. Click here.

Kristy came in 4th place in Division B and Ruchi came in 2nd place in Division 3. Mike came in 10th in Division A, Joe came in 16th in Division B and I came in dead last in Division C.
The room was a great place to play, but the one smoker in the tournament kept insisting on going out on the adjacent patio, the door was next to Div C and we froze up quite nicely.
Dallas could have used some more help on Saturday, but his wife Sue, and a few folks came in Sunday and helped.
I personally wouldn't want to do this again, but there were other folks enthused about doing this next year.

13 games a day weren't tiring but were unnerving. It just got difficult differentiating previous game's play with the current game. 5min game was fun!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
