How to Meditate

Tonight we will look at the fundamentals of how to meditate and the practicalities of integrating meditation and contemplation into our daily life. Perfect for beginners wanting to learn how to meditate but also a great refresher for more experienced meditators.

This is the first class in our new series, "Confidence to Change." We all have things we want to change about ourselves to become happier, more well-balanced people. Our confidence in our ability to change - from stressed to peaceful, sad to happy, unproductive to productive, etc. - depends on our knowledge of how to actually change. This series will focus on practical ways we can integrate meditation and positive thinking into our lives to produce immediate change.

Found this online; hope it's okay to share. It really resonated after last night's class. Thank you Gen Samten for sharing your wisdom. Peace and love to all

I am my own refuge, I am my own protector. Nobody can actually give me protection. I must help myself by clearly understanding what I have to take up and what I have to get rid of. I have to find this out myself and then do it, and that is the true practice of Dharma. It is through the practice of Dharma that I create the causes and conditions for my own happiness and for achieving wisdom, compassion, and the ability to help others.

I have to find and widen my own understanding and aspiration. I have to cultivate compassion and wisdom within myself. Using method and wisdom together, I will try to achieve the power to work for the benefit of myself and others. Doing that I will be able to protect myself, and I will transcend suffering through my own efforts. In order to do this, I have to depend on this path—the Dharma. I have to depend on the

'you are your own protector, you are your own enemy, you are your witness, when good or evil has done'. this inspires me to think of: I can protect not only myself but also others simply by protecting my own mind..

An amazing teaching on meditation, the "mental action" that makes the mind peaceful and more profoundly, allows for a deeper inner transformation to take place.

I found the session very enlightening. The presentation was well done and explanations of meditation and contemplation has to be the best I have heard. The simple and prayerfull development of the topic mixed with a sense of humor made for an enjoyable evening. May all have a blessed week.
