See "Oscar Nominated Shorts" at the Magnolia Dallas Theatre

Since the Academy Awards are coming up, on March 2nd, I thought we should see this: The Magnolia Dallas shows, every year, right before the Academy Awards, the five Oscar nominated animated short films (actually, they add two or three to the five; Honorable Mention films, in order to make the presentation longer, since the Oscar nominated animated shorts are often only 5 to 15 minutes long). The Magnolia also shows the five Oscar nominated live action short films.

Short films are really not shown in wide release, anywhere; you'd be hard pressed to find a theatre, anywhere, that is showing ANY of them. So the Magnolia doing this is really the only opportunity to see these films. And they're always fascinating, highly original, a treat that you don't get to see in the movie theaters at any other time.

For the sake of saving space and time in this invite, I won't give a synopsis of these films. But you can easily find that information by getting on your computer and getting on the Internet and going to the Internet website oscar.com. But here are the names of the nominated films: The Oscar nominated animated short films are "Feral", "Get a Horse!", "Mr. Hublot", "Possessions", and "Room on the Broom".

The Oscar nominated live action short films are: "Aquel No Era Yo (That Wasn't Me)", "Avant Que De Tout Perdre (Just Before Losing Everything)", "Helium", "Pitaako Mun Kaikki Hoitaa (Do I Have To Take Care Of Everything?)", and "The Voorman Problem".

You need to know this, too: you'll need to buy two tickets, one for the Oscar nominated animated shorts, which starts at 8:10 P. M. the other for the Oscar nominated live action shorts, which starts at 10:20 P. M..

These films won't be opening at the Magnolia until after the Winter Olympics start. I don't want to schedule any movies during the Winter Olympics, and I'm not free the Saturday before the Oscar telecast. So I'm scheduling this Meetup activity as a rare Tuesday night event for our group.

We'll meet in the upstairs lobby of the Magnolia Dallas Theatre, on the couches that are to the right as you exit the escalators, 30 minutes before the films start, so that we can talk for a while and meet the new people before going in to see the films. So come join us!
