Nine Mile Reef, a short 4.5 miles off-shore is a favourite of game fishermen, divers, spotted eagle rays, and various other marine life stopping past for a snack or a look.
Located off Tweed Heads on the Gold Coast, Nine Mile Reef is known as a “sharky” spot.
We will be diving with the Tweed Sea Sports who are drift diving specialists for this area.
Grey nurse sharks in winter months. Occasional hammerheads and whaler sharks are also seen here. Reef fish are ever-present, and large pelagic fish sometimes circle in big numbers. Year-round residents include wobbegongs, blind sharks, bronze whalers.
Turtles, stingrays, eagle rays are regulars as well as the occasional manta ray. The rocky reef here drops from 10-30 metres and is covered with numerous corals.
If you’re looking for a thrilling dive, Nine Mile Reef could be the one you are after.

This is a double boat dive, leaving from Tweed Head Sea Sports and suitable divers Advanced Open Water and above. Please note that if the weather isn't suitable for Nine Mile Reef, we will go to Cook Island instead.
Our experienced Divemaster, Geoff Davey will be leading this dive.
