(Rescheduled) Get Acquainted and PS Kids Dive Event

LETS GET TOGETHER AND DIVE!!!

Calling all new divers to the club! (And you old timers too). Let's get together and spend the morning diving! We will go a one or two tank dive (that's up to you and your buddy) at the Shores! If you don't have a buddy, don't worry, there will always be someone there to buddy up with...this has NEVER been an issue. We are a friendly bunch and don't bite unless asked.

Parking can be fairly difficult, so look for the sign near the flagpole, drop your gear and then go on a "parking spot" scavenger hunt! It shouldn't be too bad

So come on out! It'll be great to meet everyone and enjoy diving the Shores!

A NEW TWIST!!! We are gonna add a side event for those members with kids!  Susan has graciously accepted the challenge (ok, I bribed her) of helping with members/kids who would like to go snorkelling.  I will be diving with Phillip and then go to the snorkeling after....any one else have kids in this category?  La Jolla Shores is great for JR OW Certified Divers and offers a great environment for them to explore the underwater world that most kids never experience!!! Its also a great place to add confidence, reinforce safety practices while they are growing up in our dive community!!! This is not a saturday childcare service....you will be surpivsing your young diver/snorkeler the entire time!!! One exception is that you have both divers and snorkellers...then we will work something out easily...it will take me more date nights to the ballet but I will take it for the team!

We will need to see all JR Open Water Divers/Accompanying Adult Certification Cards

We will adhere to the following guidelines concerning Jr OW Divers:

10-11 year olds are restricted to diving with a

parent, guardian or PADI Professional to 40 feet maximum

depth

12-14 year olds must dive with an adult certified diver.

SNORKELLING!!!  For those who do not have certified Jr OW divers, yet have kids who love snorkeling -  the Marine Room will offer a great opportunity for them to see Leopard sharks and Rays in only about 15-20ft of water!! Just float and swim around and see if you can find the fish!!!

SCAVENGER HUNT!!! What's a day with the kids without a scavenger hunt?  We will pass out cards at registration for things kids need to find (maybe the big kids can help)! Maybe there will be a surprise at the end for the winner...ya never know!

This is a first of its kind event based on conversations had with fellow members with kids.  We are a group who loves to dive, it is our passion and escape from the dryland world. Yet when Phillip was certified, I did ask myself...would I impose on our "adult dive fun" if I brought him?  What I found was when Phillip isn't there...I'm always asked "Where's Shark Bait?" So, maybe there are more of you with the same thought....so lets get our future divers together and go for it!!!

I'm gonna throw in some drinks and snacks for the amount of RSVPs we have with kids....please state in your RSVP how many are coming so I can guage if I need to hit CostCo or not!!! If anyone else would like to contribute it would be appreciated yet not expected.

ADMIN STUFF YOU MUST READ:

The Virtual Donation Jar is always out (for the Meetup site costs and general fund). It's strictly voluntary, but is very much appreciated and needed: Click here for the DONATION JAR

If you have not submitted a Liability Release for Power Scuba for yourself AND your child, I will have them on hand on the day of the event at the registration table!!

You must also read this: Disclaimer and Clarification... AKA Terms of Service...AKA Terms and Conditions

Anyone with a medical condition possibly counter-indicitive to diving must have a doctors signature on a diving waiver form and submit signed form to Bill Powers (or an organizer) before they may attend any Power Scuba event. YOU MAY NOT ATTEND AN EVENT WITH AN UNDISCLOSED MEDICAL CONDITION. Doing so is grounds for expulsion from the group. Here is our medical statement: Medical Statement Therein you'll find a Doctor Waiver form as well.

Attending any scuba event Power Scuba facilitates constitutes attendee's affirmation they are medically fit to dive, certified to dive by a nationally-recognized agency, have the necessary skill & training level for the dive being offered, have read the Terms and Conditions, and have submitted a signed Liability Release to an organizer.

Important Note: It is not the organizer's role to lead your dive. He/she merely facilitates you getting to the pre-dive meeting location. The Organizer will not assign you a buddy nor will he/she be leading the dive as a "group dive". Visibility and liability do not allow for that. Nor will the Organizer tell you whether you are skilled enough to make any particular dive. That is for you (only) to decide. When you enter the water, you (and your buddy) are on your own. You must plan and execute your dive with your dive buddy only. Once members arrive at the meeting spot, the Organizer becomes simply another diver.

Your participation constitutes your affirmation you agree to these above rules and disclaimers.... and that your buddy(s) (if applicable) has read and agrees to the same.

Great Idea!! My two are still too young at 4 & 6 but they did have fun playing topside with several minions on Sat at the Vets and Newbs events!! They will be bubble makers soon enough :)

Phillip is a diving maniac....he loves it! This event is a trial run and if enough interest could happen every now and then....just to get people together and maybe culture our future dive community with safe and confident divers!!!
