(This event is POSTPONED due to high surf)

Sounds like you need to go diving! Join us for a one tank dive at the beautiful Shores. Lets take advantage of the currently spectacular conditions.  All skill and experience levels can appreciate this dive location.  Easy entry and exit and depths that can satisfy the new beginner or challenge the experienced!  Need a buddy? No worries....there is always someone to team up with around this group!!! And as the motto goes.....All We Do Is Dive...and party a little! The first round of sake/beer is on the event host tonight!

AFTER THE DIVE:  Now it would be time to party a little. We have at least 5 birthdays in Power Scuba this week, including the event host, so expect a little extra merriment. Lets meet at Sushi Mori (2161 Avenida De La Playa), which is right around the corner from Kellogg Park at around 8pm and share fish tales and outright blatant lies about things we have seen in the depths of the ocean.  Please drink and drive responsibly and have your significant other join us and we can fill them in on all the funny stories about you...if you don't have any..we will just make them up. It will be fun!

THE TWIST: In keeping with the theme, to earn your first drink, you must bring AND order sustainable seafood using the Sustainable Watch card that Bill posted in the More--> Files section. No AVOID species. (It's fine to order something other than seafood too, just no drink for you.) Find it here: http://files.meetup.com/1307107/MBA_SeafoodWatch_SushiGuide%202013.pdf

ADMIN STUFF YOU MUST READ:

The Virtual Donation Jar is always out (for the Meetup site costs and general fund). It's strictly voluntary, but is very much appreciated and needed:  Click here for the DONATION JAR

If you have not submitted a Liability Release for Power Scuba, please follow this link to the file, print, sign, and bring to the event along with your C-Card (scuba certification card). You need to do this at least once a year:  Liability Release and Assumption of Risk

You must also read this: Disclaimer and Clarification... AKA Terms of Service...AKA Terms and Conditions

Anyone with a medical conditionpossibly counter-indicative to diving must have a doctors signature on a diving waiver form and submit signed form to Bill Powers (or an organizer) before they may attend any Power Scuba event. YOU MAY NOT ATTEND AN EVENT WITH AN UNDISCLOSED MEDICAL CONDITION. Doing so is grounds for expulsion from the group. Here is our medical statement: Medical StatementTherein you'll find a Doctor Waiver form as well.

Attending any scuba event Power Scuba facilitates constitutes attendee's affirmation they are medically fit to dive, certified to dive by a nationally-recognized agency, have the necessary skill & training level for the dive being offered, have read the Terms and Conditions, and have submitted a signed Liability Release to an organizer.

Important Note:It is not the organizer's role to lead your dive (or to wait for you after you come out of the water). He/she merely facilitates you getting to the pre-dive meeting location. The Organizer will not assign you a buddy nor will he/she be leading the dive as a "group dive". Visibility and liability do not allow for that. Nor will the Organizer tell you whether you are skilled enough to make any particular dive. That is for you (only) to decide. When you enter the water, you (and your buddy) are on your own. You must plan and execute your dive with your dive buddy only. Once members arrive at the meeting spot, the Organizer becomes simply another diver.

For Boat Dives: Any overage (usually less than $50) resulting from our local dive boat trips is put into a dedicated Group Boat Fund. This allows us to make up the difference if we don't completely fill up a future boat charter. No other use is made of this money.

Power Scuba bears no responsibility or liability for a member's loss (gas, airfare, hotel fees, etc) in the event of a canceled event.

Your participation constitutes your affirmation you agree to these above rules and disclaimers.... and that your buddy(s) (if applicable) has read and agrees to the same.

Sorry folks. The surf isn't cooperating, so I'm calling it. I'll look for another date. And lets do the sushi/sake thang then as well.

Ah, that explains why no one was there. Next time, then!

I ran into Weiwei at Trader Joes. So I told him it was good to see him. That's legit.

Hope to see you all later for a do-over.

I went down the the Shores and the sets are rolling in. The lifeguard I spoke with said it isn't dropping. Two divers came out as I was there. They said it had actually picked up and they were battling it. There were no other divers at the Shores.

CDIP is reporting around a 2 foot swell at the moment, which is good. I'm going to keep an eye on the surf and will try to get down there early to check it out. I'll update the event only if things look too big, and we can just do sushi. My number is[masked] if you have questions, or are looking for male companionship.

    September 25, 2013

    • Jonathan W.

It's the corner of Camino Del Oro and Vallecitos. Like Jason says, go to the flagpole, and look for the happiest divers.

      2 · September 25, 2013

    • Amy D.

      Thanks guys!! See you soon.

      September 25, 2013

    September 24, 2013

  • Avery C.

Going to have to pass on this one but will be on the birthday bash on 9/28 to celebrate birthdays.

    September 24, 2013

  • Amy D.

Sounds like fun! Can't wait to see sushi with candles in it. :-)). If someone is free, I would be glad to be your dive buddy.

    September 24, 2013

    • Jonathan W.

There is always somebody to buddy with. Come on out. The pool is open.

I live in el cajon. I can swing by to pick up Eric. Let me know. My phone number is[masked]

    September 23, 2013

    • Eric G.

Hey everyone, as much as I'd like to attend, I must decline. Between the diving and the sushi, I don't think there will be enough time to get me back home in time to work that night. I'll get to dive on Saturday, so that will be fun!

      September 23, 2013

  • Avery C.

I must dive on my 50th birthday! I'm in.

    1 · September 10, 2013

    • Jonathan W.

Wow. It's a big one. Now that they all dive, bring the family! (and RSVP) It's also Eric Golden's B day on the 26th, although I don't know the number. I'm guessing 20. Gisela is the day before, the 25th.

      September 10, 2013

    • Eric G.

Actually, I'll be 24½ soon...in Martian years. Does that count?

      September 23, 2013

  • Linalyn D.

I don't have a dive buddy. Can somebody be my bud that day?

    September 23, 2013

    • Jonathan W.

No worries Linalyn. There is always somebody to buddy with.

      September 23, 2013

  • Carla

Beware...Im going to stick birthday candles in the sushi rolls

    2 · September 16, 2013

  • Jonathan W.

Apparently Eric needs a ride to/from his place. This is his actual birthday, so it would be great if someone could swing by to get him. I think he lives in Tierrasanta.
