CLOUD SECURITY and the LAW
Mr. Howard and Mr. Folawn presentation will include a discussion of issues and best practices for adoption and use of Cloud technologies from a legal perspective including:
•A synopsis of relevant case law around cloud computing,
•Compliance landscape, evolutions and developments,
•eDiscovery and data retention, and
•Q&A on legal “best practices”.
CHRISTOPHER HOWARD is a shareholder and the general litigation practice group leader for Schwabe Williamson and Wyatt, practicing out of their Seattle office. Mr. Howard focuses his practice on commercial litigation and the defense of professionals, including legal, medical and design professionals. He has extensive trial and appellate experience in State, Federal and Administrative Law courts. He has been repeatedly recognized as a Washington State “Super Lawyer” and twice as a “Top 100” lawyer, as well as AV rated by Martindale Hubbell.
Mr. Howard is a frequent speaker on legal ethics, civil practice, and medical-legal issues, as well as a regular contributor to “Dining Out with Schwabe,” a monthly food review. He earned his undergraduate degree from The Johns Hopkins University and his law degree from the Stanford Law School.
COLIN FOLAWN is an attorney with the law firm of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, where he limits his practice primarily to complex contract disputes, business torts, products liability, and legal malpractice/ethics. He has presented briefing and oral argument before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as the Washington State Court of Appeals. Mr. Folawn has tried civil jury cases to verdict in Washington courts and written and argued several successful motions in state and federal courts. He is admitted to practice in Washington and Oregon. Mr. Folawn has been recognized for inclusion in the list of Washington Rising Stars published by Thomson Reuters.
Mr. Folawn serves as chair of Schwabe’s Technology Committee. He is also a member of the firm’s Conflicts & Ethics Committee, as well as its Social Media Committee. Mr. Folawn is a frequent speaker on legal ethics and loss prevention for lawyers. Mr. Folawn earned his undergraduate degree from Willamette University, majoring in music. He earned his J.D. degree, summa cum laude, from Seattle University School of Law, where he served as editor in chief for the Seattle University Law Review.
