Skills training morning (10 till 12)

Hi people, the first of our new kayaks have arrived. This means that we are now able to offer more people the chance to come paddling with us. The first kayaks to arrive are our new singles of which we have 2 distinct designs.
The first is for expeditions or multi day trips. They are fast and stable capable of handling large seas.

Our Discover kayaks are shorter and lighter designed more for shorter day trips but also perfect for training in.
So on Sunday, the weather is forecast to be warmer and its the perfect opportunity for us to do a skills development day from Kei Ling Ha San Wai (our northern base).

What is a skills training day?

With 11 singles available it is now possible for 11 people to spend time individually improving their paddling techniques. As we have a lot of paddlers who want to improve their paddling skills I am conducting 2 x 2 hours sessions with a BYO BBQ available during the day.

What you will learn:
Individual personalised instruction on your paddling techniques for maximum efficiency and effectiveness to reduce your fatigue and improve your speed and steering capabilities.
You will improve your forward and back paddle, stopping, sweep strokes and stern rudder techniques.

Additionally you will begin to learn the draw stroke to move your kayak sideways and the low brace to provide you additional stability, especially when surfing on small waves.

OK, its social too. We will have the middle of the day and later afternoon to enjoy the company of other paddlers. At Kei Ling Ha we can have a BBQ in our own courtyard so bring some bread, meat and drinks (none available on site) if you want to. We will make some simple salads too.

Summer is coming quickly and the weather is warming up. We have a small beach to swim at too if you want to spend some time immersed in water as well. For those keen to help, once you have completed your training you can help me teach others. Teaching is the best way to learn! and any assistance is always welcome.
See you Sunday.

Yes, this IS a beginners class as well as a class for more advanced paddlers. It will be a good way to learn how to kayak.

Should we be bringing more beer than food for the BBQ? It is St. Patrick's day after all!
