Sorry I couldn't make it last night!

For folks interested in Clojure you may also want to attend the Seajure (Seattle Clojure Users Group - http://seajure.github.com) meeting tonight near Pioneer Square.

    Looking forward to Clojure...

^--- something like this would be a reasonable group logo / Gravatar for the GitHub org? Just an idea.

OK, maybe I've got it--I created a "team" on GitHub, called "UGMembers", and assigned the "Meetings" repo to that group (and added Chris to it). Somebody tell me if that works, or if there's an easier way to do this. (I think the team thing will work better, actually, since then if a group of us work on something we can form a team and not everybody will get spammed with notifications for that repo that they're not interested in.) My GitHub Fu is somewhat weak, though, so if somebody knows reasons why this will not work optimally, shout.

+ChrisRus on GitHub SeaLang please. Thanks!

    April 3, 2013

    • Ted N.

Chris: I *think* you have to add yourself to the organization--I don't see a UI in GitHub to add a user to the org. :-/ Point it out to me if I'm wrong....?

      April 4, 2013

  • Ted N.

Posted meeting notes to the GitHub repo; will try to add people next. EMail me or message me here (which I won't check as often, I admit) if you want to be added to the SeaLang organization on GitHub.

I loved it! Of course, I organized it.

Actually a great turnout for meeting #1. This is going to be a fun and interesting group.

I didn't find out about this until I couldn't make it in time, but I'll make the next one!

    April 3, 2013

  • Wonseok C.

Cannot make it today. I hope all have fun tonight!

    April 3, 2013

  • Jaime Lyn S.

Alas, taking one for the team that night. Have fun!

I'd love to come to this, but this restaurant is way out there towards Issaquah and it doesn't look like there's a bus that goes there. Would anyone be able to give me a lift? I can make it as far as 228th Ave NE & 18th Pl NE, and/or get to the Bellevue Transet center, but if anyone's coming from Lynwood or Everett, I live in Bothell.

    March 10, 2013

    • Eric H.

I will be dropping my daughter off at Bothell Landing Park at 6:00 pm, if you do not mind getting to the event early, I can give you a ride.

      March 24, 2013

    • Alexander A.

Thanks for the offer, but the address was wrong initially when I made that comment. Now that it's corrected, I'll be able to get down there fine. Again, thanks a lot!

      March 24, 2013

  • Ted N.

    Rough agenda for the meeting:
    -- Introductions and beer requisitioning
-- Discuss what I'd like to see the group do
-- Discuss what you'd like to see the group do
    -- Discuss meeting format(s)
-- Discuss meeting calendar, topics and recruit speakers
    -- CRITICAL: Find/make a good group logo

If there's time, I'll show off some of my favorite esoteric programming languages, and maybe a few actually-useful ones. ;-)

Sorry for the wrong address, folks; I took Google literally when it offered me the Redmond address and didn't bother to double-check it. The one above should be correct, but in case there's any doubts, it's just off the Lake Sammammish exit of 520, on Redmond Way, next to the Staples and Qdoba and Trader Joe's.

  • Nimret S.

It appears that the restaurant is closed btw http://www.canyonsrestaurant.com/ note that there is one in the appropriately named canyon park area in Bothell (the southwest chicken rolls are the bomb btw)

    March 19, 2013

    • Ted N.

Um.... Looks open to me... Both on the website and in person. The Redmond location I mean.

      March 19, 2013

    • Nimret S.

yeah, I meant the original location. It looks like you've updated it to the Redmond location. I should be able to make that.

      March 19, 2013

  • Alexander A.

Maybe you got the wrong address for this event? If you mean the actual Canyon's in Redmond, that'll be less of a problem to get to.

    March 19, 2013

    • Ted N.

That sounds right. I'll update the meetup ASAP.

      March 19, 2013

    • Thibaut C.

Ha ok, the one right off 405 then right ? that would make more sense than the other one that was just about in eastern WA :)

      March 19, 2013

  • Ted N.

Alex--it's possible. I'll double-check with the restaurant. I Googled it, but that place has been there for the last six years. :-/

    March 19, 2013

  • Ted N.

Trying to answer the questions. Sergey: because I wanted a setting that was more relaxed than the traditional conference room, and I know the folks at Canyon's pretty well (I do a lot of work there). Richard: I want to keep this in-person because there's plenty of online organizations already, and there's just something more "human" about in-person vs online. And as for why Eastside, because I live in Redmond, and I didn't want to make the trek across the bridge, either. :-) If the group takes off there's no reason we couldn't alternate "sides", but I'd need help with organizing it at that point. For now, Eastside.

    March 19, 2013

    • Alexander A.

East side is fine for me (I'm in Bothell), but this is too far east for me to get to by bus unfortunately. Hopefully this can be closer to the lake in the future if it remains on the east side.

      March 19, 2013

  • Thibaut C.

I'll try, might have a real hard time to make it out there by that time though.

    March 18, 2013

  • Chris B.

I'll be driving from downtown Seattle to Redmond and leaving down 520 -> 405 -> 167 -> Auburn (Jovita Exit) if anyone wants a ride anywhere that's not too far off that course. Bonus if it's on the Seattle -> Parking Lot -> Redmond leg because we can use the HOV lanes.

    Why this location?

    March 14, 2013

  • Jaime Lyn S.

Hoping to attend. Need to clear the night off from my "day" job.

Sorry I will miss the kickoff. I am on an out of town client engagement for a while. Looking forward to the next time around. Cheers.

I live down south between Puyallup and Graham ... long drive. Any thought about doing (or also doing/experimenting with) VIRTUAL meeting?

    March 11, 2013

  • Chris R.

Thanks for creating this group, Ted. I may be in Si Valley on 4/3 but will make it out soon.
