Let's capture the Polar Bear Dive (Resolution 5K)

Many of us have heard of this 5K/lake dipping event. Maybe also an opportunity to capture the New Year spirit with our lenses? We can meet at the main registration table at 10am. Event will end around noon.

Don't forget that even if a mix-up occurs and you are unable to find the host, that person still invested time into planning and suggesting a good event for you and got you out of the house. From the pictures it looks like there were good opportunities for photos. I'm sorry to see John got dinged on the rating for the event presumably based on this, especially since I see he gave contact into and the suggestion you call if lost.

No big deal Michael. But I appreciate that you took the effort to revisit past meetups and comment on what you think. You are a good organizer!

Photobug, sorry to hear that. Next time, feel free to call my phone. Did you like your shots?

I ended up running in the event, so I didn't bring my big cameras. I got a few shots of some weird people in costume and some of the crowds running. I saw an eagle sitting up in a tree down by the dog park. pretty much no point in shooting birds in a tree with a point and shoot.

There might be parking problems. Try to get there early or take the bus if you can. Happy New Year everyone!

Thanks everyone for sharing the information. We are going to the polar bear DIVE at the Magnuson park, not the polar bear PLUNGE at the Matthews beach park. The dive at Magnuson is located at their boat ramp, better for taking shots. Some more points:

    1. I am changing our meeting time from 10am to 9:30am. We need to get their early, do some recon, and occupy the best positions at the boat dock. The dock might be crowded.
    2. The event website and route map is at http://promotionevents.com/ResoRun/course.htm
    3. My phone is[masked], in case you need to call me on the race day.
    4. Before we go, please check the race info, some of the previous race/dive photos and pre-meditate: what kind of shots do you want to take? preparation, preparation, preparation! Snipers don't take random snap shots, it's one shot, one kill!

John, according to City of Seattle website, this event is not at Magnuson Park, but Matthews Beach Park which is about a mile north. Here is a link to the website: http://www.seattle.go...
