Bioneers 2013 Screening & Discussion: Darren Doherty & Joanna Macy

The Bioneers Conference is a leading-edge forum where social and scientific innovators, often inspired by nature’s models, share their methods to help restore people and planet.  Become educated and inspired about breakthrough solutions for restoring people
and planet.

We'll start with a video showing from the October 2013 Bioneers Conference followed by discussion with Neil Harvey, host of the Bioneers Radio Show. We plan to have networking and connecting be a part of our evening as well.

First we'll watch Darren Doherty on "Regrarianism: Re-booting Agriculture for the Next 10,000 Years."  Large-scale modern agriculture is the world's largest industry and the most ecologically destructive human activity. One of the world's most brilliant and accomplished Regenerative Agriculture practitioners who has worked on thousands of projects on five continents will describe how "Regrarianism" can reverse this destruction and usher in a new regenerative future for our food systems.

Darren Doherty is a 5th generation Australian farmer and Regenerative Agriculture pioneer who has worked in over 40 countries over 20 years as a farm planning consultant and educator. Darren has designed thousands of projects, focusing on the practical regeneration of agricultural landscapes, soils, communities, and families.

Then we will be inspired by Joanna Macy on "Choosing Life."  The renowned Buddhist teacher, eco-philosopher, systems theorist, scholar, author, longtime peace, justice and ecology activist, and one of the most beloved and influential leaders in the personal and social change movements of our era, shares the essence of the wisdom she has distilled during her extraordinary 84-year trajectory. According to Joanna, the greatest gift we can give our world is our full presence. As we draw that gift forth from ourselves and each other, we find our courage and clarity. In this time of radical uncertainty, that choice and that capacity is there for us every step of the way.

We're so pleased to have with us in person Neil Harvey, an award winning independent radio producer, narrator and writer.  Neil has produced feature reports for Morning Edition, National Native News, The Voice of America and Bioneers, to name a few.

Free and open to the public.

Sponsored by the Greater Seacoast Permaculture Group, Portsmouth Community Radio, The Portsmouth Public Library & Slow Food Seacoast.

This was great. It was so nice to have a few groups of people (Transition Initiatives, Seacoast Permaculture, Slow Food) gather together to watch this presentation and discuss the material. I think we should ways to do this more often! Especially in the Portsmouth area! (Shameless plug to have events closer to where I live!)

I would really like to attend, but cannot drive due to a knee injury. If someone in the Hall Rd. area of Barrington has room in their car, I'd love to hitch a ride!

I found out my good friend from upstate New York is coming to visit and she was hoping she could come to the screening tomorrow night too. Is there enough space?
