Tentative Changes for this Month:
A holiday play begins the next day on the stage we use, so just before tonight's meeting will be the final dress rehearsal. The bad part is we'll be starting a half hour later than usual. The good part is you can come early and hone your low-light moving stage performers any time between 5PM and 7PM.
Bring a photo, mounted (but not glued) and matted, and preferably wrapped in an archival clear bag such as the Crystal Clear Bags. Wrap it or place it in a gift bag so no one can see the image, and bring it to the meeting.
Everyone who brings a photo will get a number, and we'll have a good old-fashioned Yankee Swap. If you don't know what a Yankee Swap is, you're in for a treat.
Images should be between 8x10 and 11x17 or thereabouts. Nothing giant or tiny, please. Mount on archival board, foam core, or an old cereal box back - the backing's going to get replaced anyway. If you can't find Clear Bags, use a sufficiently large freezer bag.
And remember, you get out of this what you put into it. Print one of your best images. It's the season of giving, after all.
Just in time for the holidays, this month is gear swap night. Bring in your underutilized gear, and come with checks and cash to pick up the treasures others are departing with. Drop your gear on the table near the entrance a half our early, and we'll take a break during the evening to check out the table and make deals.
Please be sure to label what your gear is and show your prices. If you have something particularly interesting, add a message to this meetup page.
Brown Bag Bingo:
As if the above weren't enough, we'll also hand out Brown Bag Bingo bags this month. If you want to participate but can't, don't worry. Put your object in any old lunch bag and bring it in January. We'll have a proper bag for you then. Note, too, that this and next month are the months to pick up anything you forgot last year.
Our challenge for this month's meeting is Textures. Between now and the meeting, take up to three photographs which somehow speak to your interpretation of the subject - please feel free to take great liberty with your interpretation of the subject.
Don't be shy, we have a very encouraging group of critics and we'll all learn something from the experience. Most of all, have fun shooting!
Instructions for Uploading Photos:
Upload photos at www.PhotoMeets.com - an upload site for Seacoast Photographers' challenges. If you already have an account, login and add your photos. If you haven't created an account there yet, click the "Request Invite" button, add your name and email, choose a password, and you can then upload your photos.
An account allows you to upload faster and will keep track of all your previous uploads. If you'd rather upload anonymously, simply click here, click the "Upload Photos for this Event" button, complete the required information, upload your photos, and you're done!
We meet at the beautiful Town Hall Gallery building, directly across from the bandstand and Town Hall Offices. Park on the street or in the nearby municipal lot and walk on over - you may enter at the front or left side of the building.
Bring other photos if you'd like feedback or critique, and be prepared to [helpfully] critique others'.
Anything photography- or photographer-related is fair game.
