Seacoast Photographers "Pub Night" Monthly Meetup

  • Jul 17, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • Jonathan's House (aka JED's Shed)

Summer Location Change:
The Exeter Town Hall is too darned hot and muggy in the middle of the summer, so for this month only we're lucky to be hosted by our own Jonathan E. Danch (aka JED) at his home and backyard villa extraordinaire, just a block and a half away from Rye Beach.

Bring your camera and gear if you'd like to grab sunset beach shots.

We'll fire up the grill, but this is BYOE, so please bring grill food, accompaniments, and/or a beverage to share.

Monthly Challenge:

There are no monthly challenge slideshows in July and August, so you have that much more time to shoot and upload something from June's chosen theme.

Instructions for Uploading Photos:

Upload photos at www.PhotoMeets.com - an upload site for Seacoast Photographers' challenges. If you already have an account, login and add your photos. If you haven't created an account there yet, click the "Request Invite" button, add your name and email, choose a password, and you can then upload your photos.

An account allows you to upload faster and will keep track of all your previous uploads. If you'd rather upload anonymously, simply click here, click the "Upload Photos for this Event" button, complete the required information, upload your photos, and you're done!

Other:
No regular meeting business nor activities go on during the summer meetings. Relax, get to know your fellow photographers, and for the love of Pete, talk about anything except camera gear.

Hi All, some of you appeared to be interested in finding out a little more about astrophotography so here are a couple of links to check out. One will get you to the web pages of Wally Pacholka--internationally lauded astrophotographer who shoots with just a tripod and DSLR and travels the national parks. The other will get you to Jerry Londrigus, someone who has spent a lot of time learning to shoot the heavens with a DSLR...he also generously shares some of that knowledge on his website.
    Wally http://www.astropics.com/
    Jerry http://www.astropix.com/

And....one more that will knock your socks off--Rob Gendler. He shoots from his driveway in Connecticut just a few miles from the NYC light dome. Some of his images rival the Hubble Space Telescope.

    Enjoy!

Perfect weather, great crowd, so nice to see familiar faces again. Once I get my hands on a working camera, the one that I really want, I'll hit the ground running and be able to join in on more excursions. Thanks Jonathan for hosting, and thanks to Tom Cocchiaro for sharing his astronomy expertise with us, allowing us to view Saturn!

Just had a very unexpected, painful dental procedure done. Will be on drugs soon as I get home! I'm bummed! Have fun! I know I won't once the anesthetic wears off!

You kind of have to, since it's in the future. As of Friday, it'll be OK to look back on it, though.

You are invited to join us for a cocktail, chips, cheese, crackers, cashews, chicken, camaraderie, and candid cameras! Now how is that, for a sampling of alliteration. We will be assembling around 6:30pm. The weather promises to be very comfortable and dry as well.
My address is: 91 Perkins Road, on the corner of Perkins Rd. and Maple Ave in the Jenness Beach District of Rye. I’m proudly serving whatever alcoholic beverages you will be bringing along. I will have an assortment of at least 15 kinds of beer. Please park your car on Perkins Road or on Maple Ave. around on the side street. There is a driveway/entrance on both streets.

Like last year, this proves to be a real "photo finish"!

    Until then, please be well!

So where do you guys meet up

    July 14, 2014

    • Jim O.

Is it the house with the big deck out front and stone wall?

      July 15, 2014

    • Jonathan E. D.

Jim, Yes the deck is on the Perkins Road side, with green lattice and an American Flag hanging from the middle. We will be around on the back side of the house where the fire pit and JED's Shed are located.

John, did u ever send out the photo(s) we are to edit?

    July 14, 2014

    • John H

Of course not; that would imply a lack of tardiness and procrastination I've spent a half-century cultivating. But thanks for the reminder to get myself int gear.

Just asking!!! I've been too busy to do it trying to do last minute things (read: everything!) for family coming to town for wedding.
