Brown Bag Bingo Swap:
This will also be the month we swap bags for the first time in our third annual Brown Bag Bingo challenge. If you're interested in participating, sign up and post your photos at PhotoMeets.com before the meeting, and bring your object to the meeting to swap it.
More info on how BBB works is included in our Brown Bag Bingo Discussion Board.
Special Lightning Workshop - Lens Micro-Adjustments:
Got yourself a tack-sharp 50mm (or other) lens but the images aren't coming out as sharp as you'd expect? It may be that you need to micro-adjust the lens auto-focus to the body. After having done this for myself and several others, I thought it would be easier to spend 10-15 minutes demonstrating this simple procedure, how to uncover it, and how to cure it. Note, this works on recent digital camera bodies like the d7000 and beyond, as well as some older bodies including Canon 1D X, 1DIII, 1DIV, 1DsMkIII, 5DII, 5D3, 50D, 7D, Nikon D3, D3x, D4, D300, D700, Sony A900, Pentax K20
Monthly Challenge:
Our challenge for this month's meeting is worn. Between now and the meeting, take up to three photographs which somehow speak to your interpretation of the subject - please feel free to take great liberty with your interpretation of the subject.
Don't be shy, we have a very encouraging group of critics and we'll all learn something from the experience. Most of all, have fun shooting!
Instructions for Uploading Photos:
Upload photos at www.PhotoMeets.com - an upload site for Seacoast Photographers' challenges. If you already have an account, login and add your photos. If you haven't created an account there yet, click the "Request Invite" button, add your name and email, choose a password, and you can then upload your photos.
An account allows you to upload faster and will keep track of all your previous uploads. If you'd rather upload anonymously, simply click here, click the "Upload Photos for this Event" button, complete the required information, upload your photos, and you're done!
Location:
We meet at the beautiful Town Hall Gallery building, directly across from the bandstand and Town Hall Offices. Park on the street or in the nearby municipal lot and walk on over - you may enter at the front or left side of the building.
Other:
Bring other photos if you'd like feedback or critique, and be prepared to [helpfully] critique others'.
Anything photography- or photographer-related is fair game.
Fantastic meeting. Great monthly challenge theme. John, I was impressed with your Surface Pro. It handled everything you threw at it. I'll just have to wait till the price comes down. As always can't wait for the next meeting.

I am enrolled in a camera course for the next few weeks on Thursday nights. As soon as I can I plan on attending the meetings. Thank you - D'

John, one again a great meeting. The information as usual was fantastic. The monthly challenge photos were very, very good. Looking forward to next month's meeting, challenge and Brown Bag Bingo entries.

It was our first time at the group .We very much enjoyed seeing everyone's work. The critiques were insightful and gave us some great ideas for future shots! Looking forward to future workshops and meetups. Thanks John for great info...

Thanks for the demo on micro turning; it was very timely.
David Busch's Nikon D7000 Guide to Digital SLR Photography book has detailed information and a test sheet for a D7000 micro adjustment. The book is available on Amazon. I have not tried it yet, but will do.

John, thanks so much for the micro tuning demo last night. When you get a free moment, would you be so kind to post the web address to download and print the calibration sheet? Thank You :-)

I haven't been to a meeting in a while and really enjoyed attending last night. I also think the monthly challenge images were really good! Actually, very good. I feel that any type of comments that one can add about their (challenge) image/s (as to how they shot it and/or processed it) might benefit the other attendees. Because of the large # of images perhaps even going to just one image each would allow more time for discussion by the maker and others about the images. That may even drive us to really show our best image for the challenge. Geez, rhythm will be tough! ☺ Bob

I really enjoyed the critique and hearing different/similar opinions from the group. Thanks Bonnie! The pro surface and auto focus demos were great.

A great meeting as always. Could we perhaps draw up some guidelines that people could use when discussing their photographs? Things like "What were we trying to do?", The use of colour (color) (I'm bi-lingual!) etc.

I think there were too many pictures in the monthly challange. It made the meeting too long.

oops! I uploaded photos without resizing them ...it doesn't look like I can resend them? The ones I sent are 4000 px I am sure they are way too large ...What should I do?
February 21
I'm not sure if i will be able to attend tomorrow nights meeting due to work, but i do have a question. When i went onto the website to upload my photos for the worn subject, it said thank you for entering this event, but then also said that 74 photos have been uploaded to this event and 0 of mine. So I'm confused whether or not they were excepted?
February 20
John,
What determines the order that you show my photos in the monthly challenge slideshow? Can I control this by the order that I upload them?
February 20
As usual, I'm looking forward to the meeting. Always like looking at members' images. Lots of good pix. Also, I'm bringing a friend.

This will be my 1st time going and I was wondering how you all present your photographs to each other?
