I'm trying to learn as much about the art of photography as I can. I'm very serious about learning but I always have fun.
I like doing self assigned projects based on subject. I also like wandering randomly and finding my subjects that way. My shoots typically involve a drive to a neighboring town to "see what I see." I try to keep a spontaneous component to my photography because I love the search nearly as much as the actually shooting.
I want to better understand how others interpret my photographs. One big challenge for me has been to step away from a photo that I have taken and see it through someone else's eyes. As photographers I think it's very easy for us to fall in love with our own images. This is particular true of images that we worked hard to get or spent a lot of time post-processing. We are then sorely disappointed when others don't see or understand the elements in the image that we find appealing. My goal is to learn to bridge that gap between my internal feelings and the feeling/insights of others. This understanding will help me better communicate the feeling or narrative that I am trying to share.
