As the granddaughter of Italian immigrants, I enjoyed a wonderful childhood filled with family gatherings around wonderful food and drink. Almost everything we ate was seasonal and much of it was regional.
Whether you are an accomplished chef or can't boil water, join us as we have fun exploring the world of seasonal, regional foods. If you have ever experienced the flavors, colors and community of a European market, you can relate to the quality of food that is hard to find in the US. Luckily, there is a trend to eat foods that are in season and closer to where we live. My goal in starting this group is to give people an opportunity to learn about the freshest foods available and how to shop, prepare and store them.
Food is meant to nourish the body and nurture the soul. Eating should be a celebration and shared with family and friends.
A little bit of education and a whole lot of fun - I hope you will join us!
PS If you are wondering about the group photo, it is called Dickerson Cows. The artist is a childhood friend of mine who now lives in the DC area - Bernie Dellario. You can check out his amazing art at http://www.bjdellario.com.
