Stone Gardens in Bellevue offers a women's climbing class every 3rd Friday and April 19th is the next date. I'm a very much a beginner, I hope to use this event to find some climbing partners and in particular those who would want to take a month long class.
Here is your chance to try it out and see if you like it. Please note, this is open to the public, so not everyone there will be in meetup. You can look for me, (Kelly) I'll have a nametag on (I think the instructors will give everyone a nametag). If you are already an active climber, this event will probably bore you a little. This is good for people who have the general idea, maybe have been belayed or bouldered once before, or have never tried it before. You do not have to be belay checked to participate, nor will you learn much about belaying. This is strictly a try it out and see what you think kind of class.
Stone Gardens charges a $20 fee for this class that includes rentals (everything you'll need).
Dress appropriately-think lightweight, looser fits or stretchy. Most jeans generally don't work very well, and too loose of a fit will get caught on the holds.
This is a physically challenging activity, you will get warm, and may want to be able to tie back long hair. They have storage cubes to keep your things, but not secured, so bring the minimum of things you'll need (ID, payment), they do have a water fountain. You will also want to trim your nails, we will be gripping with the tips of our fingers. You are free to bring your own gear, but that will not change the price of the class.
I have put a wait list on this event so we don't overwhelm the class.
