Another great meetup! A clear and informative and challenging presentation given by Gene (thanks, Gene!), and a courteous, smart, probing and thoughtful discussion by our group members (thanks, Philosophers!). I'm impressed again and again by the intellectual caliber of the folks who make up our Seattle Circle! It just shows that people from all walks of life, with nothing more than scant background in philosophy (mostly autodidactic), can, by focusing on the right questions and applying rational process and creativity, successfully engage in genuine philosophy and make a meaningful contribution.
Next meetup, to be posted shortly, I'd like to discuss underdetermination of a theory by the evidence and Occam's razor, two important
challenges/issues in philosophy of science, a 2-for topic that has become germane owing to the recent discussion over our member Philip's ideas (check out the recent activity on the message boards).
See you there!
