Twitter Presents: So you want to upload an image?

Hello Everyone!

I am pleased to report that Twitter will be hosting the next event on image uploading and the vagaries of mobile connections.

Doors, food (no pizza!), and beverages will open at 6:30 pm, with the presentation to start right around 7:10 pm - or whenever everyone sits down :)

Presenter : Shajan Dasan (Follow @sdasan on twitter)

Description: A picture is worth 1K words, more so, when you have 140 characters to work with. In this talk, I present our findings and challenges supporting photos on Twitter. I will talk about image cropping based on face detection; working with low quality networks; our experimental framework and process for figuring out what works.

I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Cheers,

--B

Both talks pretty interesting. Liked the practical overview of testing mobile UI on Android. The second presentation was useful to learn about the design and UX process Twitter went through when creating this feature.

I enjoyed it very much. I am just getting into Android so the talk about testing was awesome. The second talk on Images was very helpful as I am working on an App that deals with images.

There is a paid parking lot between 2nd and 3rd on Stewart St, which is close to the Twitter office. The parking lot entrance is on Stewart St. Google maps show the address as[masked] Stewart St, Seattle, WA 98101

I want to hire someone to write a fun ux for a program like modem_fsk. Believe it or not, your 30 year old 300 baud modem (!) is the best worldwide solution for no cost, no royalties NFC (near field communication). I will have a couple 'droids at this meetup to demo. Thank you Allen Engel https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=makino.android.modem_fsk

    Hello Developers,

Post a comment if there are more areas you are interested in, i will try to include them.

I will talk about photos - how we consume, process, store & serve. I will cover a few tools that help us make good product and engineering decisions - AB tests, user engagement measurement, crash reporting.

I will also touch on how we are organized as a team of engineers (client, server, full stack, SF/Seattle) that helps us move fast.

Hope to talk to you on Tuesday!

    Hello Benn,
I appreciate going to this event, and I actually do lots of photo and video editting of my own public speaking presentations for online viewing, as I upload them to Youtube or two Chinese video streaming web sites (Youku & Tudou). Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to show you my videos on these meetup web sites. Anyway, my major objective is to find out if Twitter is looking to employ NFC technologies, my connections say yes, and there are very few people in this region with NFC knowledge. I am one of those that do possess this expertise and deliver presentation on NFC-Payment(wallets) and TEE mobile device security.

Really sorry that I have to miss this one. It's a topic that I'd like to have listened to. Unfortunately, I've got another meeting scheduled that night.
