First of all, I'd like to thank the T-Mobile guys, specifically Giri and Sai for an absolutely awesome meetup! We had approximately 30 people show up and about a dozen T-Mobile people as well. Between the new Samsung Galaxy Tab device (very neat!) and the rest of the 17 devices on the table, there was a lot of excellent device testing. I saw around 5 or 6 laptops out, and quite a few people doing some serious debugging. Plus, the T-Mobile people were on hand to answer all sorts of interesting questions about the cellular network, and their testing and acceptance procedures.
Which brings me to plans for the next few months. Given the holiday season (and corresponding schedule crunchs) the meetup group will be entering a light hiatus through January. There might be a device test session, but we will not be doing a full evenings meetup until February.
That said, however, we will start with a big one! Sue Schmitz at T-Mobile is responsible for promoting Android applications to the T-Mobile customer base, and she wants to promote YOUR application! So Sue, myself, and two guests will be hosting a 'Pitch Your App' session. If you've ever been to the 'Pitch Your Game Idea' panel at PAX, then you'll have some idea as to the format.
The winner will receive promotion across T-Mobiles marketing base of over a million customers, inclusion in promotional literature, and highlights in the T-Mobile application store. Oh, yes, and riches and glory untold :) There might even be free hardware!
Of course, I will be selecting the panelists with some eye towards sarcasm and piercing wit, so it won't be all sunshine and flowers. Should be entertaining, though!
I will have the date sorted out in the next few weeks. In the mean time, get your apps ready, and happy holidays!
