PostGlamism Opening Reception at CoCA & Art@SDC

Hi Culture Connoisseurs!

Join Seattle Arts and Cultural Events for the opening reception of PostGlamism: Glam Art in the 21st Century, at the Center on Contemporary Art (CoCA), as part of Art@SDC Seattle Design Center Third Thursday Open Galleries. This indoor art walk includes 10 galleries and free parking.

Here is a description of PostGlamism:

"Glam emerged during the early 1970s in the wake of Pop art and embraced a visually exotic style of fashion-influenced glitter, chrome, platform shoes, androgyny, and the like. Yet Glam, for all its intensity, remained an analog phenomenon despite organizations like Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.) that were closely affiliated at the time. Today, as we observe a resurgence of interest in a broadly similar visual aesthetic, we cannot fail to notice the primary difference of the digital revolution that recalibrates the genre. Thus the art we will be exhibiting encompasses new media, new materials, and new permutations of celebrity persona."

Hi Everyone! A few tips about Thursday night - the Seattle Design Center consists of 2 buildings, north & south. The south building will be closed off due to an event & garage parking will be unavailable. Free parking is available on the street. CoCA is in the north building on the 2nd level at the top of the stairs. We will start there and then explore other galleries. I will be wearing a Meetup nametag.
