D&D Encounters: War of Everlasting Darkness Session 8

  • January 2, 2013 · 6:30 PM

As Game ON! is not hosting D&D Encounters for the rest of December, just before the finale of this adventure, we are planning to have a make-up session the first Wednesday of 2013.

Hello Everyone. Moved to South Seattle last year and am interested in sitting in on some D&D sessions. I haven't played in 20 years so I am pretty behind the times. Looking to see if there is any ongoing local campaigns that I could observe, sort of get my feet wet.

D&D Encounters is very good way to "get your feet wet." Rules are a little relaxed and there's a balance of combat, puzzle solving, and role playing. I hope you come. 6:30 every Wednesday night at the Southcenter mall in the store called Game On (second floor next to JC Penny). We play till closing @ 9:00. Come at 6 if you want help generating a character or use one of our per-made.

Sounds good. I can't commit to a full night right but I would like to stop by and check it out. Thanks.

As I've noted in your email, I have PREQ3-1 "Shrouded Visions" (1–10) ready for next week [masked]). For the other three Wednesdays in January, I'm thinking I may split MYRE3-1 "Jim Morrison" (1–4) into three parts, sort of like a chapter of Encounters.

The question was also brought up of whether this would cut into Encounters stuff actually published for January. Oddly, Wizards has mentioned in passing that the next season doesn't start until Feb. 6.

I haven't seen any official confirmation that they meant to take a month off, only people on the forums questioning that. For now, I can only assume that there was no mistake. If Game ON! will still be hosting even though there is no published adventure, I will have the few Living Forgotten Realms adventures that are intended to be able to be played in short slots ready. At press time, only one has been released, with the other two having been promised (one listed as "in progress: finalize") for a couple of months, so I may try to cut down some of my own ideas down to that size, too. There are four more Wednesdays in January.

DTwenty is not hosting D&D Encounters until February. If there were stuff being published, I suspect they'd know.

If you want some crazy competitive killing, they're running Lair Assault "Temple of the Sky God" every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the meantime. I'm going this week, but I'm not sure how much space there'll be. You can contact DTwenty for more information.

Our regular DM said she was considering trying to get back from her New Year's celebration in time to run this. Unfortunately, she didn't give us any contact information (for her or for the backups, who haven't shown up lately) since she said she could just post here. I haven't heard anything so far. Lacking any other information, I'm planning to see if I can get into a table tomorrow night at DTwenty and borrow a copy of the adventure, so I can be ready to step up to DM if necessary.

I did play and borrow a copy. I'm going to have to return the copy this week, but I would NOT have wanted to run this one cold, even after having defeated it. Since I've already gone through it, perhaps I could run it from the usual DM's copy even if she's there, giving her a chance to play. I don't have any way of contacting her to tell her to get her own character ready, though, or the backups to get the other copy.
