I live in Bellevue, so I'm interested in events that don't require too much driving: Redmond, Kirkland, and Seattle are all feasible for me, but Lincoln Square Cinema is ideal.
I'm not sure I have a genre that I enjoy as a rule. Certainly, I see action/sci-fi/fantasy most of the time, though I will occasionally have a go at a drama or suspense film that looks interesting, and a comedy on rare occasions. When I was growing up, I had a very low tolerance for anything that could be considered "scary" in a movie. But now that I'm a bit more desensitized, I've been trying out a number of horror films, and have been far from traumatized by even the most gruesome ones. (I think horror is fantastic when done well, but is done well rarely.) I give a great deal of credit to a film that is genuinely unique or successfully entertaining, though I have high expectations for that kind of praise. I'm also willing to try out some family-friendly children's films, as long as there appears to be at least a little entertainment value for adults. My favorite movie is Walt Disney's "Atlantis". I saw it three times in the same weekend, and love the concepts, dialogue, and pace.
I enjoy contra dance, attending theater, exploring local bars and restaurants, and video games. I'm also a massive chocolate fan, and have been sampling the various dessert options around town (and am open to suggestions!). I've also picked up a number of songs over the years - I once tried counting how many I knew by heart, and the number turned out to be in the hundreds [masked], depending on how you slice it). If you're having trouble recalling the entirety of "American Pie" or want an impromptu serenade of Tom Lehrer's "The Elements", I'm your guy.
I'm a recent graduate, living in Bellevue since July 2012. I've been seeing a number of movies in my free time, and love discussing and critiquing films, both new and old. I especially enjoy films that are different from anything I've seen before.
