WORKSHOP: Intro to "East Coast Bal-Swing Fusion"

Wednesday, March 13th:

By Special Request:

An Introduction to slow

"East Coast Bal-Swing Fusion"

"Balboa" is a phenomenal, close-connection, ragtime jazz era dance typically done to faster Charleston-style swing music.

"Bal-swing" is a hybrid dance that has evolved in recent years incorporating a whole host of fun break-away elements from swing, such as the "spike turn" or "Maxi slide". In this workshop, we'll dive into some of those delightful bal-swing elements, but in this case, ones which can be done to a much slower East Coast Swing (ECS) tempo.

In addition, we'll explore the world of "Bal-Swing Fusion" -- how to seamlessly transition between ECS and Bal-Swing movements (One of Ari's specialties & original swing-fusion innovations!).

Join is for this wonderful Seattle debut workshop!

    Howdy all,
Several people have asked me about the concept behind this Wednesday's "ECS-Balboa fusion" workshop at China Harbor. The pure Balboa basic is a fairly technical and fast paced dance. In this workshop, we bypass all of the hard bal-basic stuff, and jump straight into fun bal combo's, but we use East Coast Swing as the basic step (ergo, swing fusion!). It's a whole new way to have fun with swing! Here's a little teaser for what this dance style looks like (in this video it's done a little faster than what we'll be doing in class, but it's the same concept) Full details at rolluptherug.com (see workshop page). (Int Level: Must be comfortable with East Coast Swing basics) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9siqFC5nl0

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
