I thought Ari's approach to teaching basic blues dancing was excellent. He chose music that crossed over from swing to blues. Many people think they "get" the blues feel - but when dancing with them you can feel that they clearly don't. Novice dancers tend to click with the swing feel more quickly, and then it's much easier to transition to the blues. With a wide range of abilities I thought Ari did an amazing job easing everyone into this type of dancing. I learned a lot & had FUN! Diane

I would like to thank everyone for the wonderful turnout! We had over 50 people attend, and I received overwhelmingly positive feedback from everyone there. Please remember 1) what we are creating for the Eastside Blues Dance scene is still a work in progress, and we are merely in the discovery phase; 2) "Blues" is not just limited to slow ballads, but also incorporates faster "Jump", "Swing", "West Coast Swing" & "funk" styles, all of which were requested throughout the night. See ya soon!

I had a lovely time at Valhalla. The blues lesson was just great-this is definitely my favorite new style of dance! Ari and Jen's instruction was simple yet inpiring. People were friendly and most danced w/ everyone. Nice dance space, and good music. I disagree that it was "all swing"-perhaps a bit too much at one point, but lots of slow blues as well, and Ari was happy to accomodate requests.
