Hi! I organize for the pro-feminist group WA Men Against Sexism. I'm super happy to see a general feminist meetup group here in Seattle. Our group mostly works with the North West Men's project on examining masculinity through a feminist lens.

What sparked your interest in the Seattle Feminist Book Club?

My girlfriend and I are excited about exploring feminism, and building ties with the community, and engaging in activism. Let me know if you need a venue for a discussion or documentary watching I have contacts with a well-connected feminist group.

What types of books would you like us to read? Feel free to give general categories or specific titles!

I'm not much of a book reader, preferring to read articles or watch documentaries.

What days/times are best for you to meet? Weeknight evenings? Weekends?

probably weekends.

What part/s of Seattle are most convenient for you for meetups?

U-District. I have a car though so anywhere is OK.

Thanks for the email. I would love to meet up and discuss midwifery and similar topics. I considered the field myself and went back to school after a 7 year break to get my BA. I minored in Gender studies and was the only male at graduation in a school of 25000! I am free this weekend if you're available.

    Hi Bryan,
Just joined the group as an opportunity to connect with a feminist community of male allies. I'd appreciate a little more info if you don't mind. Does the culture of this group define sexism as the tools of a patriarchal power structure, or do you use it synonymously with any instance of gender descrimination? Is there a lot of concern over "reverse sexism" or "reverse racism" etc?

    Thank you very much.

i'm glad the group has a new organizer.
for the next few weeks my time is limited, however thurs/fris tend to be possible and if not, i'm agreeable to having the type of conversation you suggested by telephone.

Coffee sounds nice. I tend to get a bit intimidated when meeting lots of new people at once. It's winter break at the school I teach at so I have a ton of time on my hands these next few weeks. I would love to get together with a couple of people in a casual setting and go from there.
