Ironman 70.3 Lake Stevens Volunteer team

Hello Team! Yvonne is heading up our volunteer team for Lake Stevens 70.3. Please see below for shift information, and get in touch with her to volunteer and help out the team. We had 15 volunteers at Ironman Coeur d'Alene and it was great for us and our athletes to see the support throughout the day. Let's do the same thing again!

We will need to provide a list of who will need parking to get free parking passes. All shifts are single shifts, however, if someone can only work a portion of the time, that's ok, please just indicate and post a comment in the Meetup for what shift(s) you're able to work. Thank you!

** 7/30/14 Edit **

Shifts still needing volunteers as of 7/30:

Body Marking
4:30 am to 7 am

Run Station #2
8 am to 4 pm

Time Chip Collectors (at the finish line)
10 am to 4 pm

Athlete Food (at the finish line - need 6 more people) 10am - 4pm

For all the volunteers there is free parking at Mt Pilchuck Elementary School, and pizza and water will be at the info/volunteer tents.

Hello all! Here's a little note from the Ironman Lake Stevens Event Volunteer Coordinator:

Hi Yvonne and the SGLTG, Just wanted to take a moment and thank you and your Seattle Green Lake Triathlon Group for all the amazing volunteers this year at Ironman 70.3 Lake Stevens!! Thanks to all for being so easy to work with flexible and filling in on the areas I thought we may have been short on. I know the process wasn’t the norm, but by working with you and your group the areas of concern were all taken care of! Yvonne, you are one awesome lady!!! I appreciate everything you did to make this an easy process!! I hope your volunteers and athletes who participated had a fabulous time and race experience!! I know there were a few hick ups along the way so please send me any feedback on the day so we can adjust for next year! Thank you, again, SGLTG!!! Your group is incredible!

Additionally, please reply with feedback. I've started a feedback response for Karen. I feel the volunteers could have been better supported (food, water, coffee, breaks, etc.) and the long single shifts could have been split into shorter multiple shifts. Please let me know what other feedback you would like me to share. Thanks!

I agree with you on the longer shifts being broken down into shorter ones - although we were able to come to the finish we missed out on a lot of the excitement of the race (the transition and/or the finish would have been fun to see and would have made us feel more included). I also agree with you about more food like Bagels or something for breakfast would have been nice. Something to add would be that I talked to more than one person at our aid station and we were all disappointed in the fact that everything went in the garbage... I know Seattle has a great recycling program but not sure about Lake Stevens, but it would have been nice to know that all that could be recycled easily was.

Yvonne really sorry for the change in plans, but I'm now participating in a Relay team for Lake Stevens. I could probably still do body marking, but that's about it. I hope you find other volunteers. Volunteering is an awesome experience! I had a great time at Seafair cheering everyone on and helping a lot of people out.

      July 23, 2014

    • Yvonne E.

No worries, Mary! Good luck with the Relay!!

      July 30, 2014

I can volunteer if I can get a ride to and from Seattle. I can provide gas money.

    2 · July 23, 2014

    • Kellina M.

I signed up to do body marking so I could carpool. I live down in Kent so I could pick up some early early shift people on my way north

      2 · July 23, 2014

    • Gennifer M.

Why don't I try and get an 8-4 shift so Connie has someone to ride with her and then Adria and Kellina can car pool.

      1 · July 23, 2014

  • Beth

Yvonne I can volunteer for the Body Marking
and Time Chip Collectors. Sign me up!

I already signed up for the finish line and med tent but I'll still be there to support the team. I wish I had a SGLTG tshirt to wear

Is there a formal sign up on the site for volunteer registration?

    July 15, 2014

    • Yvonne E.

I'm finding out - seems like there would be, but previously, they only asked me to send names/shifts. Stay tuned...

      July 15, 2014

    • Yvonne E.

The volunteer coordinator has requested I send her names/shifts directly so she can do the registration. Odd, but whatever...

My son is going to the kids event. So I think I'll downgrade to cheerleader.
