Saturday Morning Rise & Shine Run!

We'll be meeting at 7am in the center of the parking lot next to the bathhouse theater. Our goal is to have something for everyone whether you are just starting out or training for a big race. Walkers, joggers and runners are welcome to join on in. We typically try and do longer runs on Saturday mornings, so whatever might be considered a long run for you, our goal would be to build on that distance over time. We have a variety of runners and would have to say that we have a great collection of folks that make running together a lot of fun and very rewarding. Please give Saturday mornings a try!

White clouds, some blue in the sky, some sun, no rain, good companionship: who could ask for more. Very nice 20 mile route. 950 feet elevation gain and loss. Oh no! My sofa is starting to drift away; I have to go hold it down. It could take hours to get it to settle again. Until next run...

Whoa 18 "not attending" that might be an unofficial record for Saturday mornings. :-)

    November 16, 2013

  • Rae

I'll be going for 6ish at around a 10:20-10:30 pace. I might tag along behind the other 6 milers.....even if they are faster than me.

    November 15, 2013

    • Loka M.

You're doing great Rae! I always like to think everyday I run is an improvement on if I just stayed home.

    • Rae

Sorry I missed this am. I could not get out of the house in time as my toddler just got up too. Looks like a two lap stroller day instead.

This is a great group of people to run with! I see lots of new faces, so hopefully everyone can group up into their distance groups at 7am and meet someone new. If the distance leaders would be willing to come grab their distance sign from me that would be great and then line up in a horseshoe shape from smallest to largest distance. Last week after announcements each distance group huddled back up and organized briefly and then the distance leaders for that group started their pack when they were ready. Lets try that again this morning! I hope you are all ready for a great Saturday morning run! :-)

PS- be sure to review the route you are running prior to arriving.

Steve, what's happening with you? Why walking? Did I miss something?

      November 12, 2013

    • Steve S.

Sorry I never saw this Stef. I got a pretty bad IT band issue going on. This will mark 3 weeks since the last at temp. Hoping to give it a try next week.

Hoping to get out of bed this time. Any 4-5 milers @ 8-8:30 pace?

    November 15, 2013

    • Loka M.

No worries Momodou. There is a 9am run now too if that is more your style.

      November 15, 2013

      Oh! I didn't know there was a 9am :-P

    • Raj

Hey Loka - fyi I think i'm shifting my mileage to 8 (maybe 10 if I feel ok) due to some leg soreness in my run today. Just trying to be cautious. So, I may not be able to lead the 12 mi route. Sorry.

      November 15, 2013

    • Loka M.

I think that will work just fine tomorrow Raj. You were the only one to request that distance and didn't want to push you up to 13. Better to listen to your body than feel stuck leading the crowd. :-)

      1 · November 15, 2013

  • Raj

    12 @ 8:30-9:00mm.

    November 11, 2013

May need to step down to 8. Left leg gave me problems in my run today so trying to be cautious.

    • Loka M.

Russ, any chance you'd be interested in joining Bruce, Fredrick & Eric for 13 miles and perhaps sneak in the rest before and after? They'll make for some great company. In fact you could even join Francis and I for 8 miles at 5:45am and then jump in with the 13 milers at 7am. How awesome does that sound?

      November 14, 2013

    • Bruce K.

FYI, I'm now not running this Saturday due to concerns about a minor injury. At this point I'm just hoping that I'll be at 100% by Dec 1 (or else I'll have to skip Seattle).

9-10 miles for me please. I'm hoping for a 9min pace but will probably end up doing somewhere between 9:30 and 10.

I am signed up for a 13 mile trail run near Isaquaah tomorrow, but it looks like there might be snow up there tonight...? If the race is canceled, I'd love to do a 13 miler with the group. (8:30-9 mm)

    13 miles at 8mm pace

    3 · November 13, 2013

    • Bruce K.

Thanks Jon. One funny thing is it's NOT the knee I was complaining about briefly on the Wed morning run. You'll recall I was saying it's usually the other knee... well the current knee problem turned out to be the other knee, not the one that had me worried during that run. Weird. Hopefully it'll be ok again in a few days. If not I'll probably have to miss Dec 1.

Adopt a family update!! Did you all know that SGLRG adopted a family for this holiday season. We are in desperate need of donations! Feel free to bring cash or a gift for our family. If everyone brought just a $1 we would be $60 closer to having a great donation for this family. Thank you!

I want to run 20 miles tomorrow @ 11-12 minute pace. If no one else is running that pace and distance, I can come with my own route. Thanks

    November 15, 2013

    • Loka M.

Hi Teresa, there were two requests for this distance for tomorrow, but neither of you are the same pace. Maybe you would be able to recruit some company from the group Facebook page. At this point the furthest distance I have created is 13, but could build a 20 if you like.

      November 15, 2013

  • Loka M.

I am a single parent this weekend, so I'll be starting at 5:45am and running 8 miles at an 8:30ish pace. It should workout just right that I am back in time to hand out distance signs and wish you all luck on your runs. :-)

I am on ankle brace doctor gave me! I feel I should take off for a week. Perhaps, I will join lakers but walk with my boys.

      November 13, 2013

    • Bruce K.

I agree. Melody I think you are READY to run the marathon. The only thing that could stop you is hurting the ankle more before race day. I would recommend resting it as much as possible or VERY light workouts. Cross training (as Loka suggested) is a good idea if it does not hurt your ankle.
