Looking for a fun run to ring in the New Year? Come join us for the second annual SGLRG First Run of the Year-Predictor Style (and Mo’s Birthday). It’s pretty simple. Come down to the lake, predict the time it will take you, and run. There’s one catch: No Garmin, Timex, or any other watches. You gotta do it by feel!
We’ll all start at 10 am and there will be volunteers tracking the times. Only one lap this year. If you feel like doing a second lap, put it in your RSVP and get there at 9:30 am, I’m sure others will be joining you. This year we will start by the bleachers at the crew house, so that after you’re done, you can join in on a New Year’s Plunge in Green Lake afterwards, If you are game, post it in your RSVP so we can get a count of the crazies. I’m going out on a limb this year. If there are 20 Polar Plunge RSVPs, I’ll join in!
There will be prizes, and no it won’t just be a free SGLRG membership.
I will be taking donations at the event to help with some basic SGLRG expenses for the year. I'll take $1, or $20 or anything. If you make any donation, you'll be eligible for prizes and some giveaways after the run at Revolutions.- You do NOT need to donate to participate or even win, it's just for the prizes.
You can post your # of laps and predicted time on your RSVP, or I will be e-mailing all entries on Sunday asking for their prediction. We will start at 10 am sharp. After everyone is in, we’ll watch the nuts jump in the Lake and then head on over to Revolutions Espresso (next to Road Runner Sports) and barring computing issues, announce the prize winners.
For anyone who has never done a predictor run, they’re a blast. And we’ve all run the lake so much, I would imagine there will be some very accurate predictions. This isn’t a race, so the slowest runner in the group could be the one to nail it. So RSVP early if you can (Logistically it will help to get people entered into a spreadsheet), and come join the fun
