Saturday Morning Rise & Shine Run!

We'll be meeting at 7am in the center of the parking lot next to the bathhouse theater. Our goal is to have something for everyone whether you are just starting out or training for a big race. Walkers, joggers and runners are welcome to join on in. We typically try and do longer runs on Saturday mornings, so whatever might be considered a long run for you, our goal would be to build on that distance over time. We have a variety of runners and would have to say that we have a great collection of folks that make running together a lot of fun and very rewarding. We meet gather into distance groups at 7am and try to match people up by pace and are off and running by 7:15am!

I'll be doing the LSH buildup of 6, but at a slow 11:15ish pace. Didn't get out during the week except for Wednesday morning to run. :(

    • Caren W.

Ran it by myself and took a wrong turn somewhere. Had to use google maps on my phone to get me back to the lake. Got my 6 miles in though.

Darn. I'm sorry to hear that. You mentioned missing the next few Saturdays. When are you back? We'll try and make sure you have some company for the next time. Great job getting you 6 done! With each of these hurdles you're that much closer. :-)

hope Ben get well soon! I feel much better in my ankle and I think I could get back on track after next week. Will do core and weight training to keep up

Most fortunate! We missed most of the wind and rain and were treated to some pretty sky colors.

Don't think Saturday 7 am is going to work for me :/ ... Anyone with the C25K group want to meet during the week to continue with some of "training" runs?!

    January 11, 2014

  • Loka M.

Awesome job you guys! You definitely earned your badge of courage this morning for making it out. I don't think we had 130 runners this morning, so we'll have to chalk one up for Mother Nature. However, next week is a chance to get back out there and resume our training. If you're really jonesing for some exercise tomorrow, then join the group of 40 taking the party up to capital hill for stair crushers!

Hope everyone had a good run this morning! Have a great rest of the weekend and hope all your football teams come out ahead. :-)

Back to back weeks of seeing our highest RSVP totals for a Saturday morning. Something special is going on here and I can't wait for tomorrow. Please review the route you'll be running (posted below in the comments) prior to arriving in the morning. Each distance has at least a couple of distance leaders that will be on hand to answer questions and help organize. Have a good night everyone and see you in the morning! :-)

It is awesome to have you out running with us, Catherine! Hopefully you don't hit the big leagues anytime soon. It is always a bummer when our runners get to good for us. :-P

We all have to start somewhere and everyone on this page definitely remembers how hard it is to get started, but can also tell you how awesome it is once you do! :-)

  • Loka M.

    Hey Guys,
I will be posting the routes shortly. The LSH beginner training group is up to 6 miles this week and they have a really nice group forming. The HTC intermediate LSH training distance is 9-10. Because there is such a cluster of distances every single mile I would like to create some spacing and increase the distance group size for each. Rather than have 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 we will have 3, 6, 9, 11, and 13. Once you see the routes you can figure out what adjustment to make at the end to get the even distance if you need one. Thanks!

    January 9, 2014

    • Loka M.

BTW- Steve also built an 8, 10 & 12 miler so if you'd like to see those to help you figure out how to adjust the ending let me know.

I'll be going for a 2014 distance PR on Saturday with a distance of 9--10 (as that is the HTC long run distance for this week). Supposed to be at conversational pace, but since I am a chatter box when I run I am not exactly sure what pace that would be. Maybe I'll see who else is running my distance and pick my conversational pace from there! :-)
