Saturday Morning Rise & Shine Run!

We'll be meeting at 7am in the center of the parking lot next to the bathhouse theater. Our goal is to have something for everyone whether you are just starting out or training for a big race. Walkers, joggers and runners are welcome to join on in. We typically try and do longer runs on Saturday mornings, so whatever might be considered a long run for you, our goal would be to build on that distance over time. We have a variety of runners and would have to say that we have a great collection of folks that make running together a lot of fun and very rewarding. We meet gather into distance groups at 7am and try to match people up by pace and are off and running by 7:15am!

My first run with the group and I will definitely be back, hopefully without the endless rain.

Great to hear Steven! Welcome to the SGLRG! If you can run in this stuff you can run in whatever else Seattle has to offer. :-)

Thank you both for the warm welcome. Oksana, I really enjoyed our conversation and hope to see you again next week.

Thank you all for the great time this morning! Everywhere I looked were running friends and that is a pretty fun sight. The rain never really let up and can't remember getting soaked liked that in a while, but the last two Saturdays have been a blast! Bring on those rsvp's and distance requests for next Saturday and we can do it again! Please join Sarah and Co tomorrow for the Easy Like Sunday Morning Run and enjoy a nice casual lap around the lake and some fun at Forza's afterward. Have a great rest of the weekend. :-)

Last long one before the Whidbey Half! I'm shooting for 12, so I can either do the 12 route, or the 8 route and run to/from the lake, depending on what the paces look like. I'm around 10:30 mm. Anyone in?

We're pretty darn close to creating our next shirt order Cathy. The biggest hold up is trying to get an answer on pricing. Which has been the biggest hold up. Hoping I'll have all the info I need by next week to proceed. We are definitely overdue to get some apparel out to the group. We've got to look good for our spring races right?

      March 28, 2014

Cool! :D Will keep my eyes peeled. Thanks for your awesome organization and leadership, Loka!

Can we talk childcare? Maybe one of you has a teen interested in early Sat am babysitting? Or maybe a small-scale babysitting co-op? Last week there was someone here who wanted to run but wasn't able to b/c of no child care while spouse was traveling. I'll be in the same boat a few Saturdays from now. It happens every few months. I wonder if others who deal with this occasionally wd be interested in trading off - one of us could do the 7am run while the other watches the kids and then we could switch for the 9:00 run. I live 4 blocks from the Bathhouse pkg lot and could volunteer my house if it helps. My son is 4.

The routes got a little lost in all the comments, so I am reposting for those of you that like to know where you are going. Please take a look at the routes and familiarize yourself with the distance you'll be running. We meet in the middle of the parking lot in front of the bathhouse theater at 7am (for any of you that might be new) and organize into distance groups to see who else might be running your pace. Sweet dreams!

I am getting excited that it's almost Saturday again! Last weekend was a lot of fun and I am feeling excited about running with you all again. Parking shouldn't be an issue this week and hopefully the rain will be sleeping in. Snow Brook Peterson took over the mapping duties this week and has some great routes for our Saturday morning adventure! Thank you Snow!

A note on the routes for anyone doing 8 miles or more: to get to the union bay natural area trail, stay on the Burke gilman trail as it crosses a bridge over 45th pl. A short distance after that, by Bill the Butchers, there is a staircase you should take down to 45th. Go right on 45th, then left at the light on Mary Gates. The trail starts from the urban horticulture center parking lot. You'll turn right at its first entrance. If you get to the sign for the horticulture center, you've gone a bit past the turn. Hope no one gets too lost!

Hi All! I just told my boss I would do the Vashon Ultra 10 mile trail run! Not the marathon!!! THANK GOD!

    Anyhow, it is June 7th.

Does anyone live in Lower Queen Anne and want to start training for these runs? I also work in downtown.

I am using RunDouble to start. I AM WAY OUT OF SHAPE AND HATE RUNNING! How is that for a good running partner!

Sounds like good incentive to get out and start training, Tina. If you find a training plan I am sure you'll find running buddies that the weekly runs to do those workouts. We get a wide variety of distances each week for our Saturday mornings and would be able to create routes for you to run each week. Join us anytime. :-)
