Re: [Seattle-Grails-Groovy-Meetup] April meeting in Seattle

Congratulations to you as well, Thomas. Certainly seems like a popular time of year for that!

For topic, I'm asking that any members who are maintaining production Groovy/Grails applications be willing to form a panel to discuss their real world experiences and answer questions attendees might have. A lot of people have questions about the realistic applicability of Groovy to their projects, especially in regard to scalability and maintainability. It's easy to believe that Groovy can be used to get code out quickly, but can you write production quality applications? How does a dynamic language hold up with regard to long term maintainability? Is it a debugging nightmare? What happens when your pager goes off at 2am and you need to figure out what's going on with your site? How big of a pain is refactoring? These are the kinds of questions that will be great to address during the meetup. Anybody who has some input to contribute is welcome to take part.

And feel free to invite any additional people who might be interested. I appreciate you asking people to RSVP as that will help me know how many people I need to ask for to be fed (haven't got an answer regarding that yet, but I should hear on Monday or Tuesday).

As for parking, there is a lot of street parking nearby. There's not a lot on Terry Ave itself, but at that time of evening, you can find something on Republican, Harrison and Boren. It's not like trying to find parking downtown or by the water. Street parking is free after 6pm.
